Stretching the Truth, Perhaps?
U can’t keep lyin like this on the internet… – KD
These days, a lot of people will bet on NBA games and take to X/Twitter to tag and curse at a player for ruining their parlay because they didn’t get one more rebound or assist. But one player you might end up getting a response from is Kevin Durant, who is no stranger to making NBA news with his clapbacks when he has some time to kill.
KD just wants you to know that he sees you, he hears you, and he doesn’t care about your parlays:
Great dub suns, and for my parlayers, better luck next time lol

But LeBron James is a different kind of beast. After he notched another triple-double over the weekend against the Raptors, he was asked about an encounter with a fan in the stands who yelled that he needed one more rebound from the King.
According to LeBron, he got the rebound after the fan told him he needed it, then pointed at him to make his day. A true King of the People.

Naturally, this led to people tagging Durant and teasing him for the way he simply doesn’t care about bettors. He’s just trying to win games for the Suns.
KD would sub himself out and cuss his bettors out in the comments from his burner. @KDTrey5 It’s levels

But KD must have seen the LeBron video too, and he surprisingly fired back with “U can’t keep lyin like this on the internet.”

If that’s Durant dissing LeBron, let’s just say it’s not the first time. There is respect between the two, but there is also an understandable layer of jealousy for Durant, who has always played second fiddle to James during their careers. Durant also lost his only NBA Finals appearance with the Thunder to James’ Heat in 2012 before getting a couple of rings over him with the Golden State Warriors on a super team years later.
Here’s a video from 2020 of a fan saying LeBron is the GOAT, to which Durant said, “that’s crazy” and he has consistently given that title to Michael Jordan.

So, there is history here.
LeBron’s Lying Meme
There’s also a hilarious history of NBA rumors of LeBron either exaggerating or lying about various moments. The most famous is probably when he said that he knew Kobe Bryant was going to get at least 70 points before the game started where Kobe scored 81 points.

Even just this week fans were accusing LeBron of lying about his dream that involved playing for Coach K at Duke before a Snoop Dogg concert broke out:
Just woke up from having a dream I was playing for Duke for Coach K inside Cameron Indoor Stadium! It was INSANE in there. Told Coach K it was an honor to suit up for him and he said the same thing back to me. He’s such a LEGEND! Then…..

In truth, LeBron likely knew he needed a rebound for a triple-double, so it was on his mind more than fulfilling a fan’s wishes for his parlay. But he definitely has a unique sense of humor with the way he exaggerates.
But going on 40 years old, it’s still absurd to see James playing this well for the Lakers. Through 10 games, he’s averaging 23.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. That scoring average would be the lowest since his rookie season, but the assists would be the third-highest year of his career.
Let’s not forget Durant is playing at a high level too. He’ll miss a few weeks with a calf strain, but he’s still averaging 27.6 points and shooting .429 from 3-point territory for his Suns, who are 8-2.
We’ll miss these legends when they’re gone.
