Prince’s Legacy 👑

At this point, it’s hard to imagine him getting drafted early despite being LeBron James’ son…

Even though LeBron James is 39 and the Los Angeles Lakers appear headed in the wrong direction, the team is committed to the veteran. It’s no secret that LeBron wants to play with his son Bronny at the NBA level.

Based on the latest NBA rumors, it’s looking like that could be possible with the Lakers.

The Lakers, per [a] high-ranking team source, are also willing to explore the notion of adding Bronny James next season,” Sam Amick, Jovan Buha, and Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported recently. “This stance, the source said, is rooted in the reality that James’ happiness truly matters to the organization.

Bronny James’ stats at USC are pretty pedestrian this season. He’s averaging 5.8 points a game on 27.1% shooting from three. Now, it’s important to remember that he’s less than a year removed from suffering a cardiac arrest at basketball practice. He deserves time to slowly get back into things, especially since he missed out on a ton of practice time.

However, I think it’d be better for him to stay in college past his freshman year. At this point, it’s hard to imagine him getting drafted early despite being LeBron James’ son. The Lakers would take him in the NBA draft to keep the star happy but he’s got a lot of work to do before he can compete in NBA games.

LeBron has been less vocal about wanting to play with Bronny since his medical emergency so he may not be as obsessed with the idea of playing with his son in the NBA. That said, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime thing for them to do so it can’t be ruled out.

It’s looking more and more like LeBron will finish his career with the Lakers. Fresh off the NBA news that the Warriors wanted to trade for him but the Lakers and LeBron turned them down. He’s content in Los Angeles and the fact that the team is willing to use a valuable draft pick on Bronny shows their commitment to him.

There’s not a lot of history of superstar kids having great NBA careers but maybe Bronny will be the exception to the rule. He’s still only 19 so there’s a ton of time for him to grow.
