Sucks to Suck

Things are looking grim for Detroit basketball…

Let’s just say I’m happy to not be a Detroit Pistons fan. The team hasn’t won a playoff game since 2008 and just lost its 15th consecutive game, which is a franchise record. To make matters worse, the 15th loss in a row came against the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James.

This led to some wild Lebron James stats going viral on social media. LeBron’s stats are better than the entire Pistons roster combined. I’m not lying. He has more career points, assists, steals, and blocks in his career than the entire Pistons roster. The only thing they’ve done better than him is rebound.

Just take a gander at the chart below.

This isn’t the type of NBA news Detroit fans want to see, especially when the team is 2-16 in NBA games this season. Now, the average age of the Pistons’ starting lineup is 21.2 so it’s not like they have a bunch of grizzled veterans on the squad.

However, it does show just how impressive LeBron’s stats are. He has been playing for a long time and is arguably the best basketball player ever. It’s more funny than it is notable that he has better stats than the entire Pistons team.

What it really does illustrate is how little head coach Monty Williams has to work with. The Pistons gave him a big contract this offseason and things aren’t off to a great start. Outside of Cade Cunningham, there isn’t much to work with.

The Lakers smacked the Pistons 133-107 so things aren’t getting much better. Detroit ownership is going to have to exercise some patience as this is clearly a multi-year rebuild. The problem is that they’ve been rebuilding for a decade.

Things are looking grim for Detroit basketball. At least the Lions look awesome for once! It’s kind of wild to think that the Pistons were one of the NBA’s premiere basketball teams when I was growing up. How the mighty have fallen. Williams just has to hope that NBA rumors about his job status don’t start popping up already.

For the Lakers, they needed to get back into the win column after getting destroyed by the 76ers earlier in the week. This team is awesome against bad teams but is struggling against teams with winning records. They shouldn’t be too stoked about beating the worst team in the NBA. A win tonight against the Thunder would be much more notable.
