Weekend Wrap-Up: Celtics Fight Back, Padres Rake Up 34 Runs on Rockies, UFC’s New Champ

Celtics Tell Knicks to Chill, Padres Demolish Rockies, JDM Stands Tall as New UFC Welterweight Champion & More

Celtics Take Over MSG

Kicking off the weekend with a bang, the Boston Celtics walked into Madison Square Garden with only one thought in their minds: winning game three of their playoff series against the Knicks or bust. And win they did.

Following a 115-93 win, two things were made glaringly apparent. One, Boston finally remembered how to score from three-point land, making 20 three-pointers. And two? Payton Pritchard, this season’s 6th Man of the Year Award recipient, put on a 23-point clinic, leading Boston to do what many were starting to think was undoable and begin to turn the series around.

With game four set for tonight, and the Celtics coming in as NBA betting odds favorites to even out the series, one thing is for sure: the Knicks will be out for blood at MSG.

So, how do you go tonight?

Is It Time to Fear the Pacers?

So, will anybody mention the obvious elephant in the room here, or are we just going to wait for NBA news experts to come out and talk about it?

Yes, I’m talking about the Indiana Pacers and how they’ve completely taken over and manhandled the Cleveland Cavaliers in their playoff series, taking a 3-1 lead following yesterday’s 129-109 win.

I know I’m not the only one who’s been blindsided by how Indiana, led by Tyrese Haliburton, has taken it upon themselves to shatter any favoritism the Cavs had in this series and pushed their game up to being one win away from moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Have we all been sleeping in Indiana this whole time? Or were the Cavs really not to be trusted in the long run?

Whatever it may be, it might be time for the Knicks and Celtics to start fearing the Pacers.

Minnesota & OKC Stand Up

Over in the Western Conference, following Steph Curry’s injury which sidelined him from games two and three of the series, and with NBA rumors echoing Curry’s status for games four and five as questionable, the Minnesota Timberwolves took full advantage scoring a 102-97 road win against Golden State to take a 2-1 series lead this Saturday.

Not to be outdone by the Timberwolves, over in Denver, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 25-point performance yesterday proved to be more than enough to lead the OKC Thunder to even out their series against the Nuggets at two wins each.

The action out west is set to continue tonight out in the Bay and tomorrow in Denver.

Padres Blow Rockies Away

If you think you’re having a hard time at work lately, stop right now and give thanks to the Lord that you are not part of the Colorado Rockies team right now.

Not only have the Rockies only won seven MLB games this season, losing the other 33, but this weekend, the San Diego Padres, aka one of the hottest teams in the league right now, decided to put on what could be one of the most dominant shows of offensive power in recent league history.

Following a 13-9 loss in which Colorado at least showed some grit, Saturday night was the literal definition of a nightmare for the Rockies after the Padres put up 21 runs against them.

At least Colorado managed to score a series-finale win yesterday by 9-3. But come on, 21 runs in a game? Really?

Yes, 21. Not 20. And thankfully not 22. 21 runs, in a 21-0 win.

In total, that’s 37 runs scored against in a three-game series. If you look at MLB stats, it’s taken Colorado its last ten games to score 36 runs combined.

At this point, why not just hire a tee-ball team to take over?

Eagles and Cowboys Set to Kickoff 2025 NFL Season

The NFL season is still some time away, but with the official schedule being released this week, the league has already given fans a sneak peek of what to expect in week 1.

In an NFC East rivalry matchup, the Philadelphia Eagles, Super Bowl LIX champions, will square off against the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener.

As Philly looks to start the season out with a bang, can the Cowboys stop the Eagles from taking flight?

Jack Della Maddalena Wins UFC Welterweight Belt

Australia has a new UFC champion! On Saturday, in the main event of UFC 315, Aussie fighter Jack Della Maddalena took down former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in one of the best fights thus far in 2025 to claim the belt.

In a fight that went the whole five rounds, Della Maddalena took the fight to Muhammad, leaving the former champ with a slew of injuries that left his face looking like a Picasso painting.

With this win, Jack Della Maddalena’s stats now stand at 18 wins and two losses, as well as being the new UFC welterweight champion!

One More Lap Around the Block

Over in Spain, in the latest edition of El Clásico, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid put on a seven-goal instant classic, including a Kylian Mbappé hat trick, which would end up seeing Barcelona come away with the home win.

Following yesterday’s win, Barcelona have moved to four Derbi wins this season in all competitions against Real Madrid, who were later on dealt with the news that head coach Carlo Ancelotti will be leaving the team to take over as Brazil’s head coach en route to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Until next week, keep it classy, peeps.
