Clark is running out of records to be broken…

Caitlin Clark’s stats did not just break the scoring record but shattered it as the Iowa star dropped 49 points, 13 assists, and 5 rebounds while hitting 9 threes against Michigan. Caitlin Clark is HER and a walking bucket.

Clark broke the NCAA women’s basketball scoring title in the first quarter and now has her eyes on Pete Marovich’s overall college hoops record.

Having surpassed Washington‘s [Kelsey] Plum, Clark is closing in on Pete Maravich’s men’s Division I record of 3,667 points,” ESPN’s Kevin Pelton detailed on February 15. “At her current pace of 32.7 points per game this season, Clark would need four more games to pass Maravich, potentially putting the record in sight on Iowa’s senior day against Ohio State on March 2 in the regular-season finale.

“…Now Clark – who could potentially return for a fifth season if she forgoes this year’s WNBA draft – has a chance to become the leading scorer in Division I basketball history, men’s or women’s.”

Did we mention how iconic of a moment it was for Clark to break the record shooting from the logo?

Is the Caitlin Clark Show Coming to the WNBA?

As for personal achievements, Clark is running out of records to be broken. The biggest incomplete on her resume is leading Iowa basketball to a national championship. ESPN’s bracketology projects Iowa will be a No. 2 seed heading into March Madness.

Regardless of how the Hawkeyes season ends, smart money is on Clark making the jump to the WNBA. Clark is the overwhelming favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.

As things stand now, Clark could be staying in the Midwest as the Indiana Fever have the best odds to land the No. 1 pick. The odds may favor Clark turning pro, but the NIL era at least makes it a conversation. This will continue to be the talk of NCAAW news until Clark goes public with her decision.

The NIL Opportunities Give Iowa a (Slim) Chance to Have Clark Again Next Season

The rise of popularity of women’s college basketball is providing Clark with more opportunities than ever before to make money at the collegiate level. A strong argument can be made that the college game is as popular as the WNBA.

Clark is clearly playing a role in that and a jump to the WNBA would also boost its popularity. As for expectations for the guard’s game, once she reaches the WNBA, there is sure to be a learning curve but Clark has had no problem performing under pressure thus far.
