Iowa is looking for revenge after losing to LSU in the 2023 national championship game. There has been a lot of talk about this rivalry, but Reese revealed that she is actually friends with Clark.

“I don’t think people realize it’s not personal,” Reese said heading into the Elite Eight matchup, per ESPN. “Once we get out between those lines, if I see you walking down the street, it’s like, ‘Hey, girl, what’s up? Let’s hang out.’ I think people just take it like we hate each other. Me and Caitlin Clark don’t hate each other.

“I want everybody to understand that. It’s just a super-competitive game. Once I get between those lines, there’s no friends. I’m going to talk trash to you. I’m going to do whatever it takes to get in your head the whole entire game, but after the game, we can kick it. I don’t think people really realize that.”

Clark vs Reese Rivalry Is Likely Headed to the WNBA

Clark has already announced that she is headed to the WNBA. The star guard is expected to be selected by the Indiana Fever with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.

Reese has yet to announce whether she will return to the LSU women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season. WNBA rumors reveal the LSU star is projected to be a top-10 pick in the draft if Reese declares after March Madness concludes.

Can Caitlin and Angel Help Increase WNBA’s Popularity?

Clark and Reese have made NCAAW games must-see TV with the sport’s popularity at an all-time high. It will be worth watching to see if Reese and Clark can take this momentum into the WNBA.

As for LSU-Iowa, Vegas expects this to be a coin-flip game. The latest March Madness odds have Iowa as a 2-point favorite against LSU in the rematch. Time will tell if Clark can add a national championship to match Reese’s ring.
