Discipline Is Everything
If you’re not disciplined off the field, you’re not gonna be disciplined on it… – Coach Prime
While the college football news is waiting for one more game to crown this season’s champion, Colorado coach Deion Sanders is already preparing his team for the next season. He knows it’s going to be a tougher one without Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and his quarterback/son Shedeur Sanders as they prepare for the NFL draft.
But Colorado has been the buzz of the CFB world since Sanders arrived there in 2023 and helped them to a 9-4 record this past season. The Buffaloes were busy in the transfer portal again, so it’s going to be a new class of stars for Coach Prime to develop.
New Season, New Standards
In a video shared on the team’s YouTube page, Sanders already went over some of the weaknesses he saw in his team’s college football games this past year:
“How can you win nine games and you’re 124th in the country and last in the Big 12? That means you don’t have discipline and where does discipline start? It starts in the meeting room, it starts in your personal life, in the weight room. Discipline is discipline. If you’re not disciplined off the field, you’re not gonna be disciplined on it. It don’t translate.”
That means new rules for 2025 in Colorado, according to Coach Prime:
“So, everything that you see that we’re gonna implement this spring by the way you dress, the way you prepare, the way you come in your attire and the way you do everything it’s gonna be disciplined.”
That means no more wearing slides to class and sitting in the front of the room during lectures if you’re representing this football team. He’s also warned players getting poor grades are going to see their checks affected, which should get their attention.
Coach Prime message to the Seniors about their Grades and NIL :
“When you stop going to class and I see a multitude of F’s and D’s, We going to affect your check”

Will Sanders Coach the Cowboys?
With Monday’s news that the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy, that has Coach Prime high on the list of targets they may replace him with. But Sanders recently said the only way he’d coach in the NFL is if they let him have his sons Shedeur and Shilo.
Deion Sanders says the only chance he would coach in the NFL is for a team that drafts BOTH of his sons:
“The only way I would consider is to coach my SONS.”

That’s a big problem for Dallas because Dak Prescott’s record-setting contract would cost the team over $100 million in dead cap space if they tried to move him so soon. The Cowboys also would probably have to pay a king’s ransom to organize a draft trade to get a pick high enough for Sanders, which would just create a mess with the Dak situation.
We know there’s a link here as Deion played for Jerry Jones during their last Super Bowl season in 1995, and from a coaching perspective, the move makes some sense if Deion were to make the jump to the NFL.
On Monday night, Coach Prime already responded to the Dallas rumors, restating his commitment to Boulder:
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful, and it’s intriguing,” Deion Sanders told ESPN on Monday night. “I love Jerry and believe in Jerry. After you hang up, and process it, and think about it, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team,… pic.twitter.com/OMossS9iOx

The college football odds for next year’s champion do not entertain Colorado much with having to replace their superstars, but Sanders sounds like he wants to stay put. We’ll see if that changes if Jerry Jones pushes for an interview and a big pitch to bring Prime Time back to Big D.
If there’s an NFL team that could get Sanders to go against his word for 2025, it would be Dallas, a high-profile gig to say the least.
