Huh… 🤔

I wanted to be able to explain different topics. – Shedeur Sanders

The latest college football news has Shedeur Sanders dropping another EP, but this time the star quarterback is trading bars for podcast interviews. Sanders is launching a new podcast called 2 Legendary.

Aside from the somewhat mid name, I’m actually excited about it. That is if the QB is going to actually be candid with his thoughts. I’m not sure if we are allowed to quote Kanye West anymore, but I am reminded of this lyric from “Breathe In Breathe Out” from The College Dropout (is there any other album?).

“Always said if I rapped I’d say somethin’ significant

But now I’m rappin’, ’bout money… and rims again…”

My point, other than getting canceled for quoting Kanye, is that if Sanders is going to actually say something then the pod could be fire.

Shedeur Sanders’ First Episode Features Miami QB Cam Ward

Sanders dropped the first episode, this podcast will be more than the QB going solo on the mic. The first episode features an interview with two of college football’s other top quarterbacks: Miami’s Cameron Ward and Virginia Tech’s Kyron Drones.

Shedeur Sanders did explain why he wanted to do this podcast. He said, “I wanted to be able to explain different topics and to really just be able to give my perspective of things and live, not just behind the screen.”

Perhaps we will get Sanders interviewing his pops CU Buffs Coach Prime. What we don’t need is another athlete podcast where players are not actually saying something significant or simply talking nonsense.

We Need to Have a Talk About Athlete Podcasts

Guys, it’s time to talk about these athlete’s pods. These dudes are just firing takes, and no one on these shows is checking them.

Sanders dropped his power rankings of teams loosely based on the new College Football 25 game. The Buffs star has Colorado at No. 2!

As a reminder, Colorado won four games last season. If guys are going to have their own pods, there should be a co-host that can at least challenge these takes. We got guys like Shedeur and Draymond firing hot takes like they’re Skip Bayless with no one playing defense.

If it’s an inside look at Colorado football and the sport at large, I’m here for it. This not so much.

Let’s hope Sanders’ next episode will be different. Here’s hoping it will be better than my awkward exchange with the QB at Big 12 media days.

Shedeur Sanders’ NIL Projections Are $4.8 Million

Sanders is partnering with Overtime, a company that does a good job of creating non-stuffy content aimed at young fans. Podcasts have become big business, and Sanders’ new venture is sure to be profitable.

According to On3.com’s projections, Sanders’ NIL evaluation is the most of any college athlete at $4.8 million. The next college football player on the list is Texas QB Arch Manning who sits at $3.1 million.

A word of caution about the Shedeur Sanders stats here. After speaking with someone involved with NIL at the NFL Combine, these projections are often inaccurate. What we do know is that Sanders is making good money from NIL deals even if the actual number is different.

Sanders is coming for our jobs. I’m okay with it as long as the pod delivers in the next episodes because the first one fell flat.
