NFL Draft on the Horizon
Man, I’m going to the league… – Shedeur Sanders
While students at the University of Colorado need to start registering for classes next semester, one popular student-athlete expects to graduate early and move on to bigger things like the NFL.
We’re of course talking about Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback/son of coach/father Deion Sanders, an NFL legend. Shedeur is the first college football player to have a deal with Nike, and his Colorado team is often making college football news.
A video was posted online of Sanders being puzzled about spring registration when he’s already preparing for far more than his next college football games. He’s looking forward to the next phase of his football career. “Man, I’m going to the league” can be clearly heard from Sanders to another classmate.

Pressure on Sanders to Succeed
This Colorado Buffaloes roster boasts some major stars for the 2025 NFL draft, including Sanders and two-way threat Travis Hunter, who might even be the top pick himself. They are legitimate prospects, and we know in Sanders’ case, he has the NFL genes from his Hall of Fame father, one of the best corners in NFL history.
That’s also why there will be added pressure on Sanders to be great even though he plays a far different (and tougher) position than his father did. The recent success rate of quarterbacks drafted into the NFL has not been great.
At least Sanders has more collegiate experience than quarterbacks like Anthony Richardson (Colts) and Trey Lance (49ers) did. In two years at Colorado, Shedeur Sanders’ stats include 71.0% completions, 48 touchdowns to nine interceptions, and he averages 8.0 yards per pass attempt. Solid numbers.

* clean pocket rate (84%) 21/25
* hurried/pressure rate (16%) 4/25

Where Does Sanders End Up in the NFL?
When you look around at NFL scores and the state of quarterback play, several teams will be lining up to draft a prospect like Sanders, who could be the top quarterback in the 2025 draft based on recent NFL mock draft results.
The safest bets we can make about where Sanders won’t go are Kansas City (duh) and Atlanta, the latter being where his father started his career. But the Falcons have entirely too many resources tied to Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr.
But Deion also played for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, and some are floating that idea out there of Sanders replacing Dak Prescott, who is having a rough 2024 season. But the Cowboys recently signed Prescott to a record-setting contract extension, so that wouldn’t be a smart move.

You have to consider the bad teams who need a quarterback and should have a high draft pick in 2025. Here are the best choices:
- Las Vegas Raiders: They simply have nothing of value at quarterback, and maybe with Tom Brady coming on as a minority owner, the Sanders family will embrace Vegas.
- Cleveland Browns: Deion might pull an Archie Manning and say no to this one, but they sure could use a reset from Deshaun Watson.
- New York Giants: Daniel Jones is all but gone for 2025, but this team has been bad for a long time.
- New Orleans Saints: They just fired their coach, they’re in cap hell, and Derek Carr is catching strays from former teammates.
Smart money is on Vegas, but don’t discount “Shedeur Sanders the Saints’ Savior” in 2025.
I’m graduating early btw
