Best of luck to Davis, who maybe can join a site where only fans will be there to support him…

The CFP Championship odds look great for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the title game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, but not everyone is going to be there for the team this Monday. A former walk-on turned TikTok star is generating buzz of the wrong nature just days before the big game.

It’s the college football news no player ever wants to see associated with their name. Imagine your team is on the verge of a national championship and you’ve just been dismissed from the team.

If they win, you probably won’t even get a ring. That’s going to sting for any athlete, but let’s find a way to make it worse. Let’s pretend you’re known best as a TikTok football player for the content you create for your large subscriber base on social media.

Guess what? TikTok might be banned in the United States as early as Sunday (January 19). The app reportedly will just stop working. So, you might have just lost a primary source of fame and income on top of your roster spot.

This is the reality right now for Caden Davis, Ohio State defensive end. The circumstances surrounding his dismissal are not quite clear, which is only fueling the college football rumors swirling around his name.

Who Is Caden Davis?

Davis was a walk-on at Ohio State where he became popular for his behind-the-scenes looks at the football team. He never played a snap in a game. He had over 300,000 followers on platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.

This is a good example of the kind of content he was known for, doing an unboxing of Christmas gifts back in 2023.

But things recently turned sour when Davis shared some footage (since deleted) via his Instagram reel that purportedly showed him on the trip with his teammates to the Cotton Bowl. However, it was discovered that the footage was from the Cotton Bowl in 2024, one year ago. Davis was already off the team by this point.

George Fitzpatrick, an offensive lineman going through the transfer portal, saw the video and remarked “You don’t play here.” Well, I hope old George here didn’t get a Christmas present from Caden.

Buckeye Journey Ends

Davis took to Instagram to say his goodbyes to the team, confirming the news he’s out at Ohio State:

“Being a Buckeye has always been a dream come true of mine since being a kid,” Davis typed. “I am so very appreciative to the coaches, staff, and players for welcoming me into the team. I truly cannot thank them enough for allowing me to live my dream for the last 2 years and mentoring me the way they have.”

Tough break for the kid, who won’t be there to possibly capture a huge celebration if the Buckeyes defeat Notre Dame for the National Championship. That would have helped him blow up even more on social media.

Then again, if TikTok is gone by Monday, then he’s down a major app. Guess there are alternative sites out there. Best of luck to Davis, who maybe can join a site where only fans will be there to support him in his next endeavors.
