More Football, More Problems?

I did enjoy watching meaningful football being played. – Travis Kelce

The Kelce bros figured they weren’t making enough headlines in the NFL world, so now the duo is taking on NCAAF news, too. America’s favorite brothers (or least favorite, we see you haters) debated the expanded College Football Playoff.

In a classic “get off my lawn” moment, Jason Kelce ranted about the 12-team playoff being too long.

“I don’t like the playoff thing being that long for college,” Jason explained on the New Heights podcast. “I don’t know why. Maybe I’ll get used to it.”

Who in their right mind is going to complain about more football? Listen Jason, you’re in the #content business now. We all live by a simple rule: more content is better than less content.

This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things

Sure, there’s an argument to be made that the gap between some of the College Playoff matchups is too long. I’m old enough to remember when everyone just wanted some form of a playoff.

We finally got that then fans were pushing for an expanded playoff. The old guys in suits said we couldn’t do that because of the “student-athletes.”

Then the TV networks and big-time brands backed up a Brink’s truck and would you look at that, suddenly we have a 12-team playoff.

Because well, you know, the money.

Now there’s even more complaining. We are a fickle bunch, sports fans.

We’re on Team Travis for This One

At first, Travis Kelce sided with big bro on the topic while admitting that they sounded like two old dudes complaining. Travis suggested maybe we meet in the middle with six teams. By the end, Travis appeared to come around to the new format.

“I don’t know. I’m kind of with you but at the same time,” Travis noted. “I did enjoy all these college football games. I did enjoy watching meaningful football being played.”

Guys, more football equals more fun. Now, let’s see those New Heights Super Bowl predictions. For now, the countdown is on to the 2025 College Football Playoff.
