The Feud Lives On

You use a helmet to catch that one too? – Tom Brady

Tom Brady made NFL news recently after posting a shirtless picture of himself catching a good-sized fish at sea. And that was all his former rival Eli Manning needed to poke fun at the football icon, but it wasn’t long before TB12 clapped right back.

Trolling Brady

Tom Brady has been active on social media, and he recently caught the attention of a former 2x Super Bowl champion and host of the popular ManningCast, Eli Manning. The two have quite a history, having played in the same era, but although Eli Manning’s career stats may pale compared to the man who many refer to as the GOAT, he does have the unique distinction of beating Brady and his New England Patriots on two Super Bowl occasions.

In a recent Instagram post, a shirtless and undeniably fit Brady posted a picture of himself holding a recent catch at sea. Brady’s caption also referenced the snowy and blustery conditions in Buffalo on Sunday night in a game between the Bills and the 49ers.

“A little warmer than it looked in Buffalo last night,” Brady posted.

That immediately caught the eye of his jocular rival, who couldn’t wait to launch a good-natured zinger at the legend.

“Cute Minnow, Tom!” Manning wrote on X, posting a picture of himself with a much bigger fish.

But Brady, always the competitor, wasn’t going to take that lying down and pulled out a clever rejoinder of his own by citing a bit of Super Bowl history.

For those who may be unaware, let’s pluck Tom’s memory from the archives.

With only a minute left of Super Bowl XLII and the Giants down by four points, Manning tossed a desperation pass to wide receiver David Tyree, who miraculously managed a catch off the top of his helmet to keep the Giants’ drive alive. Four plays later, New York scored a touchdown and claimed a 17-14 victory in the first of two Super Bowl meetings between the quarterbacks, both of which were won by Manning’s Giants.

“You use a helmet to catch that one too?” Brady clapped back.

Brady Weighs in on Daniel Jones

While Tom Brady is expected to be a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer, Eli Manning may also get his own bronze bust in Canton. But one current quarterback who was once regarded as the Giants’ future is now in its immediate past.

Daniel Jones, a former first-round pick of Big Blue back in 2019, has struggled through a miserable season of NFL games and was demoted from starter to the team’s third-string QB. Recently Jones asked for his release and has subsequently caught on with the Vikings’ practice squad.

Tom Brady shared his thoughts on the matter and was tacitly critical of the way Jones went out in the Big Apple.

“I don’t know how the whole situation went down, but to think that you would ask for release from a team that committed a lot to you is maybe different than I would have handled that,” Brady said during the broadcast. “I always felt I wanted to get the trust and respect of my teammates regardless of the situation, knowing that I was trying to be the best I could for the team because that was the most important thing.”

Tom Brady’s net worth is reportedly hovering around $300 million, so it’s fair to say he’s got a pretty good idea of how situations should and shouldn’t be handled in the NFL.
