Bryce Young: Early Signs of a Potential Bust

The Panthers made a coaching change this offseason but it doesn’t seem to have mattered…

You gotta feel terrible for Carolina Panthers fans. They might have the worst owner in the NFL now that Dan Snyder is gone and he just can’t seem to make any of the right decisions. Last year, the Panthers sold the farm to get the No. 1 pick and use it to draft Bryce Young.

At the time, it seemed like a logical move but it quickly turned into a disaster. The Panthers did not have the offensive pieces in place to protect Young and he had a nightmare rookie season. Things only got worse as Carolina would’ve had the No. 1 pick this year but it went to the Bears. They used the pick on Caleb Williams, who is a far better prospect. That’s not to mention they traded more picks and star wide receiver D.J. Moore.

To add insult to injury, C.J. Stroud was taken after Young and he already looks like the next great quarterback. The Panthers made a coaching change this offseason but it doesn’t seem to have mattered.

Bryce Young’s stats have been terrible as he’s thrown for 245 passing yards combined through two games and has three interceptions and no touchdowns. He doesn’t look like a quarterback who should be playing NFL games.

What Will Panthers Do?

It’s possible that the Panthers win one or two games this season. They don’t look like an NFL team and Young might go down as one of the biggest busts ever.

The biggest question NFL rumors will pose to the Panthers is whether or not they’re going to give Young a third year. Carolina has a good chance to get the No. 1 pick next year and there will be appealing quarterback options like Carson Beck.

We’ve seen teams give up on highly drafted quarterbacks a lot quicker so they may want to take the opportunity to restart at the position again. That said, owner David Tepper may not want to admit he was wrong so quickly. It’s still possible that the Panthers will use the No. 1 pick on an offensive lineman or a skill position player to help Young. Regardless, things are looking bleak.
