Mahomes vs Jackson 😎

Mahomes is hoping his new cast of wideouts won’t have the same issues…

If you are going through football withdrawal, don’t worry as the first preseason game is 65 days away kicking off a month of preseason action on Thursday, August 1.

Let’s focus on the real thing as there are few better options than beginning the season with an AFC Championship rematch between Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.

Here are the three biggest questions you should be watching for in this Chiefs-Ravens primetime opener on the NFL schedule.

Spoiler alert: All of them are related to Taylor Swift.

…Just kidding.

No. 1 Can Patrick Mahomes Count on New Chiefs Receivers?

You may have noticed Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice has not had the best offseason. It remains to be seen if the NFL will throw down a lengthy suspension given Rice’s legal woes.

Kansas City plucked longtime Ravens receiver Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown away from the Cardinals. The Chiefs also drafted Xavier Worthy, who holds the record for the fastest 40 time in NFL combine history.

We all remember the Chiefs opener in 2023 with Kadarius Toney and others dropping plenty of passes. Mahomes is hoping his new cast of wideouts won’t have the same issues.

No. 2 Will We See a Hollywood Brown Revenge Game?

Brown is one of those new Kansas City playmakers. The wideout spent the last two seasons in Arizona but is best known for his first three seasons in Baltimore.

What kind of connection will Brown have with Mahomes? Could we see Brown have a career game against his former team?

All eyes will be on those Brown props in the season opener.

No. 3 How Much Will the Ravens Offense Rely on Derrick Henry?

After playing all of his NFL games for the Titans, star running back Derrick Henry is getting a fresh start with the Ravens. At times, it seemed Henry was the entire Tennessee offense.

We can’t wait to see Jackson and Henry in the same backfield. Henry has never played with a playmaking quarterback quite like Jackson.

It will be worth watching how many carries Henry receives in his Baltimore debut. Something tells us it could be more of the same even if the star is wearing a new jersey.
