When It Started
In the winter of 2014, Aaron Rodgers stopped communicating with his parents. This was around the time when his girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, was staying with him in Green Bay. During one of their visits to watch an early-December home game, Ed and Darla Rodgers had a friendly chat with the actress. They departed believing that everything was fine between them all.

Olivia Munn’s Role
The New York Post reported that Aaron Rodgers’ girlfriend at the time, Olivia Munn, called Ed and Darla (Aaron’s parents), upset about their plans to visit Aaron during his Packers game in Tampa Bay before Christmas. She didn’t want them to meet or attend the game. Ed and Darla explained they had supported him since he was young and didn’t need her permission to continue going to his NFL games.
Despite Ed and Darla’s trip to the Tampa Bay game, they did not see their son. Sources say that Aaron eventually sent an email to family members that conveyed the message: “Don’t attack the woman I love.”
“The only thing I said was, ‘You haven’t been on the scene very long. You’re just his girlfriend. We’re his parents,’” Ed told the New York Post.

Making It Public
The rift within the family became public when Jordan, Aaron’s younger brother, appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette in 2016. While competing for a chance at love with Fletcher, Jordan disclosed that his relationship with Aaron had become distant. He explained to People, “My goal was to be honest with her every step of the way. It had to be talked about.”
Olivia Munn Speaks Out
In an interview with Andy Cohen in 2018, Olivia publicly addressed the drama for the first time:
“I do believe that family and fame and success can be really complicated if their dreams are connected to your success. … Their work has a direct connection to what he does. At the end of the day, there’s a lot of complications. I don’t think either side of the road is clean, but I do think it’s not OK when you try to stand on someone’s shoulders and then throw dirt in their face, which is what I think they did with him.”
