And The Award Goes To…

Can we get access to what guys are tipping the best at Chipotle?…

The NFL news just dropped with the Walter Payton Man on the Year finalists, and I’m here to break it all down. Not going to lie, this one is a bit hard to compare players.

Can we get access to what guys are tipping the best at Chipotle? Maybe who has helped a few old ladies across the street in recent months.

This award has less to do with NFL games and more to do with the dudes these guys are away from football. It’s impossible to know all the things the finalists are doing to give back, but I want to highlight five guys who deserve consideration for the award.

If you are not familiar with the award, you may recognize the sick Walter Payton patch that the players get to wear on their jerseys.

Here’s my NFL picks for the best nominees to win the Walter Payton award.

Jared Goff, Lions Quarterback

I had a chance to interview Jared Goff in Detroit ahead of the 2024 NFL draft. Goff was doing an event surprising fans prior to the draft.

Detroit is not the sexiest city when it comes to a destination for pro athletes, and it’s been cool seeing the city fall in love with the quarterback. It’s been a redemption story for both sides, and kudos to Goff for embracing the Motor City and the fans who have been down bad with all the previous losing seasons.

Mike Evans, Buccaneers Wide Receiver

You know Mike Evans as the guy that scores plenty of tuddies for your fantasy team. Evans has battled injuries throughout this season, but the wideout remains active in the Tampa community.

As a former Floridaman, I know that Evans is active in the community. Evans and his wife Ashli work with Florida kids with a special emphasis on fighting against domestic violence.

Bobby Wagner, Commanders Linebacker

Bobby Wagner is another player who I have been able to interview. Wagner used to start off all of his press conferences with the Seahawks by recognizing different community initiatives.

Safe to say Wagner is still doing the same good work in Washington D.C. as he was in Washington state as a member of the Hawks.

Maxx Crosby, Raiders Pass Rusher

Maxx Crosby looks like he could be a UFC fighter, but this dude also has a big heart. Maxx Crosby’s stats make him one of the best defenders in the NFL. The Raiders star is also doing work helping to prevent substance abuse among teens.

Zach Martin, Cowboys Guard

Zach Martin received some brutal news as the star will miss the rest of the season. Martin has been one of the faces of the Cowboys in the community.

The nine-time Pro Bowler is doing work to honor the National Medal of Honor recipients as well as helping the Salvation Army among other endeavors. Martin faces an uncertain future with the Cowboys, but has been a big win for the city of Dallas.
