What a Rookie Season for Stroud🤩

We came out we knew what we could do this season and we’re proving it man. – C.J. Stroud

Buckle up, because the Houston Texans’ journey this season is nothing short of a sports movie script. Rewind to 2019 – the last time the Texans tasted playoff action. Fast forward to now, and bam! NFL news outlets reported that the Texans are back in the playoffs with a thrilling 23-19 win against the Colts on Saturday, right in their backyard. Talk about a road victory to remember!

Now, let’s chat about DeMeco Ryans and C.J. Stroud. These guys are the new dynamic duo in town. Ryans, stepping up as head coach, and Stroud, the rookie quarterback sensation, have turned the Texans’ ship around in their debut season. Remember those gloomy days of 3-13 last season? Well, they’re just a blip in the rearview mirror now.

“Everybody’s fighting till that last play, that’s what it’s about. We punched our ticket. It wasn’t pretty, but it was gritty. We fought and found a way to get it done,” Ryans said.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. NFL rumors suggested that the Texans would struggle. Imagine navigating a season with a fresh-faced coach, a rookie QB, a receiving corps playing musical chairs, and a history of only four wins in 20 seasons on the Colts’ home turf. Sounds like a tough gig, right? But the Texans didn’t just show up on Saturday; they showed out.

The standout stars? C.J. Stroud, who coolly completed 20 of 26 passes for a whopping 264 yards, tossing two touchdowns like it was backyard football. And let’s not forget Nico Collins, who caught nine passes for 195 yards and one touchdown. These guys were on fire!

Stroud’s arm isn’t just for show, though. The rookie wrapped up the regular season with a jaw-dropping 4,108 passing yards. That’s right, he’s etched his name in the NFL history books as the fifth rookie to hit that mark. Talk about setting the bar high!

Stroud completed 63.9 percent of his passes for 8.2 yards per pass attempt with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions in 15 games this season. The rookie phenom also ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries, helping the Texans win key NFL games.

“Man it’s words can’t describe, I’m just so blessed to be a part of a great group of guys, um and I can do nothing but just thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ man, uh we came out we knew what we could do this season and we’re proving it man, we ain’t listening to outside noise, we locked into what we know we can do and we came out we got the dub,” Stroud told ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt after the game.

On the flip side, the Colts are probably feeling the sting. Their playoff dreams? Dashed. Ending the season with a 9-8 record, those last five games really did a number on them, with three losses that hit hard.

So, what’s next for the Texans? The C.J. Stroud stats in the regular season were phenomenal and he should win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and well, they’ve already made history as the first rookie QB and first-year head coach duo to dance into the playoffs since 2012. That’s a stat to boast about at your next trivia night. As for the rest of their playoff journey, they won the AFC South, which means that they will host the Browns in the Wild Card Round this weekend!
