Is Taylor Swift Pissing Off Dads, Brads, and Chads?

I May Be a Swiftie But I Understand Why NFL Fans Are Annoyed

And Yeah, Football Is Awesome!

The news of Taylor Swift being TIME’s Person of the Year also came with a lengthy interview where the pop star spilled the tea on her relationship with Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. After Kelce made celebrity news with his interview in the Wall Street Journal, fans have been dying for a glimpse into Taylor Swift’s feelings about all the spotlight on her new relationship.

In her interview with Sam Lanskey, she addressed the annoyance NFL fans have endured from seeing her plastered all over their televisions at NFL games.

“There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once,” she continues, “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”

She goes on to say after Lanskey points out that having Swifties watching NFL games has been positive for the organization, “Football is awesome, as it turns out. I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

Yeah, we know, Tay! Football is arguably the best sport in the world. While Taylor has been recently recognized for having a positive impact on the economy, the NFL contributes $5 billion annually to the US economy in revenue, and the league itself generates nearly $12 billion each year. Plus, the NFL has been culturally significant since the 1920s, for crying out loud. I’m just glad Swift has begun to recognize it!

Now back to the annoyed fans, I understand that Taylor has little control over how much coverage her attendance has at the games, but there’s no way she isn’t aware of how annoyed some fans have been (and not just the Dads, Chads, and Brads). Even Travis himself made NFL news when he said the organization was overdoing it on his New Heights podcast.

As a Swiftie and a football fan, I feel like I’m qualified to make an unbiased judgment here.

The truth is NFL fans have a right to be annoyed when they tune in to watch football but are instead forced to watch numerous clips and endless commentary on Taylor Swift.

Imagine if you went to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour and suddenly it cut away to football highlights of Travis Kelce. Fans would be PISSED. (I wouldn’t be. Travis is the hottest man on the planet. Give me all the coverage, please).

While I think the annoyance is justified, I also want to add that it’s not necessarily Taylor’s fault. She’s just there to support her man, who just so happens to be an NFL superstar.
