Are You Not Entertained?
I’m just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes. – Jameis Winston
The 2024 Cleveland Browns were an absolute nightmare to watch play NFL games when Deshaun Watson was the quarterback. They couldn’t score more than 18 points, all he did was take sacks, and there was always that feeling of disdain that he doesn’t deserve this ridiculous contract.
Enter Jameis Winston after Watson ruptured his Achilles, and the Browns are fun and competitive again. They may only be 2-3 in Winston’s starts, but he’s already led comeback wins and upsets of the Ravens and Steelers, and he made some fitting NFL news and history against the Broncos on Monday night in another near-upset against a playoff contender.
This season needed a fun gunslinger who isn’t afraid to mix a pick party with a 400-yard passing fest. I mean, just look at this dude

Jameis Sets Bizarre NFL Record
Jameis Winston’s stats were something to behold on Monday night. Winston passed for 497 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions in a 41-32 loss in Denver. It was the Full Jameis Experience as he had two interceptions returned for touchdowns, including a back-breaking one in the final minutes.
Man, I love Jameis Winston that man is the king of throwing pick-6’s and never lets that negatively impact his mood for too longpic.twitter.com/A2GO8Q7dh5

If you add the 171 yards on interception returns to his 497 passing yards, that’s 668 total yards gained on his passes, a single-game record in NFL history. It’s only fitting such a record would go to the only quarterback who has ever thrown 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in the same season. He also broke the record held by Vinny Testaverde, another old gunslinger who was the No. 1 overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1987.
Like Testaverde before him, maybe Winston can enjoy his ultimate career success for a different franchise many years after he was drafted.
Plus, how can you not enjoy the entertainment value off the field? Winston dropped the line “I’m just praying for the Lord to deliver me from pick-sixes” in his press conference after the game.

Deliver him from the evil of those pick-sixes, Lord. But it is funny that Winston would say it’s not like him to have those plays, because he set a single-season record in 2019 with Tampa when he threw seven pick-sixes. He now has 14 pick-sixes in his career, which ties him for 33rd in NFL history.
More Fun Days Ahead for Jameis
In Week 14, the Browns will be in Pittsburgh for a rematch of their recent snow game that Winston won. But I’m circling the Week 15 game against Kansas City for some real fireworks. With the way the Chiefs are getting lit up down the field by quarterbacks like Bryce Young and Aidan O’Connell, can you imagine the NFL rumors of what Jameis might do in that game? It could be a 500-yard game, and the Chiefs are bad at forcing turnovers this year.

Hell, Jameis got 235 yards out of Jerry Jeudy in Denver, the most ever in a revenge game in NFL history for a receiver against his former team. If Winston can ever cut down on his turnovers, he’d be a legitimately successful franchise quarterback.
But then he wouldn’t be quite the spectacle he is now in his purest, “he’s just having fun out there” gunslinger form.
