How bad did it get? Maziel revealed that not even a call from LeBron James could get him out of bed during his lowest moments with the Browns.

LeBron would text me every week to come over to the house and watch a game or play poker with the boys and just tried to be there,” Manziel said on the “Club Shay Shay” pod, per People. “And I was so depressed for the first time in my life that even my biggest role model and inspiration in my life couldn’t get me out of bed to come and hang out with him.

Yep, you read that right. Johnny Football was on poker night terms with King James. Manziel reveals that one of his regrets is fumbling the friendship with James and rapper Drake.

There were a lot of people that I let down,” Manziel noted. “And I truly feel like him and LeBron were people that I really really let down.

Johnny Football Only Made 8 Career NFL Starts

The sad thing is we don’t know what kind of NFL quarterback Manziel would have been. NFL rumors often talk about Manziel as a bust, which is bound to happen given the quarterback was the No. 22 pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Consider this stat, fam. Manziel only has eight career NFL starts and 14 total NFL games. Manziel’s total career starts are less than half of a pro season. This reality was mostly self-inflicted as Manziel’s demons became massive roadblocks to his success. Manziel revealed that his battle with drugs cost him to lose 40 pounds after he left the NFL.

I was 210 lbs. when I left Cleveland, I was 170 lbs. sitting in Vegas that August, September, October,” Manziel noted. “How do you lose 40 lbs.? You’re on a strict diet of blow.

Manziel Is Still a College Football Icon

What we do know is that Johnny Football was an icon during college football games. Manziel pulled off the rare feat of winning the Heisman Trophy during his freshman season in 2012.

Manziel’s net worth is estimated to be $1 million, per Celebrity Net Worth. The former star quarterback signed a four-year, $8.2 million contract with the Browns after the 2014 NFL draft.

Manziel’s football career will always be followed by the term “what if” but good on Johnny Football for appearing to turn around his life.
