Not Everyone Can Survive Aaron Donald 💪🤢
AD’s just ripping curls. Next thing you know, this kid is puking in the trash can. – Matthew Stafford
Aaron Donald retired last year, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he’s about to slow down. The man probably wakes up in a cold sweat if he doesn’t hit his daily lift. He’s one of those rare athletes who genuinely loves training more than, like, most life experiences.
If anyone thought that a kid’s Make-A-Wish request would be an exception to Donald’s usual gym grind, well—Matthew Stafford has a story for you.
In recent NFL news, Stafford recently went to New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce and shared the time a ‘Make-A-Wish’ kid trained with Donald in the Rams’ facility. This wasn’t some cute, sweet meet-and-greet. No, this was Aaron Donald inviting a high schooler fresh off beating cancer to his workout. And that’s how the poor kid ended up hunched over a trash can, throwing up 30 minutes in.
AD’s Workouts Are Not for the Weak (or Even the Strong)
To be clear, this wasn’t some frail child. They apparently brought in a high schooler, a bigger kid who played football and loved NFL games. And Donald, being Donald, saw that and thought, “Cool, let’s lift.” Stafford said he immediately knew this wasn’t going to end well.

“I look over, and I’m over there doing, like, banded something,” Stafford said. “And AD’s just ripping curls. Next thing you know, this kid is puking in the trash can.”
And Donald? Unbothered. Just casually hitting another set. Stafford even called him out mid-workout.
“AD! Can you please like have a little couth, a little understanding?!”
Donald, without missing a rep, hit him with: “You want to be AD? You gotta work like AD.”

A Weight Room Legend
This is the same guy who was lifting in the gym the morning after the Rams’ Super Bowl parade. Donald only has one mode, and it’s work. So yeah, maybe he made a ‘Make-A-Wish’ kid throw-up, but that kid can now say he went rep for rep (for 30 minutes) with one of the most dominant defensive players in NFL history.

Speaking of the Rams, they’re sitting at +2500 odds to win the Super Bowlin 2026. If they somehow manage to get back to contention, I’m guessing it’s because Aaron Donald’s influence in the weight room is still haunting the franchise.
Taking this as confirmation from AD that this went down exactly like Staff said https://t.co/p3xiDSuE3S pic.twitter.com/dmoFU9CoWo

In the meantime, Stafford’s wife, Kelly, has already been throwing shade at the Rams and fueling NFL rumors about his future. And if the Rams are actually trying to make a Super Bowl run, at least they did something right in NFL free agency by signing Davante Adams. It’s not quite the same as having AD wrecking offenses, but hey, points are good too.
