Well Deserved Title?
Facts are facts, and so too is the universal truth that Aaron’s a douche…
NFL games are mercifully underway after an agonizingly long offseason, but let’s face it, we all have our favorites and those that we loathe the most. A recent study revealed New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the player fans love to hate.
The NFL’s Most Hated
The Action Network polled more than 3,000 American NFL fans from July 31 through August 5 and announced the results, with New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers being chosen as the league’s “most annoying player.” After the votes were tallied, Rodgers received 27% of the votes, with Travis Kelce coming in second place at 17%.

Aaron Rodgers’ stats are undeniable, and he also happens to be rich, smart, handsome, and one of the league’s best quarterbacks to ever lace up the cleats. No, I didn’t say he was “the” best, nor did I say he should be on the NFL’s Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks, which, of course, would belong to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, and John Elway.
Okay, you can debate Elway, but the other three are irrefutable, and Rodgers is certainly a tier-two NFL god. But he’s also annoying, whether he’s lying about his anti-vax status or missing two days of OTAs in June because he had a vacation to Egypt planned and it was on his bucket list. I’ve got news for you, Aaron: you can get around to your damn bucket list when you’re retired.
Aaron Rodgers is notoriously outspoken on controversial issues.

Travis Kelce also made NFL news and caught shade, but it’s really because of his significant other, Taylor Swift. She and Brittany Mahomes cackling in the luxury box like a couple of high-priced hens is enough to send anyone over the edge. Travis is simply a casualty because of it, but, okay, I get it; he can be obnoxious from time to time.
Rounding out the top five are Odell Beckham Jr. at 10%, followed by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at 8% and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott at 5%.
It’s Not You, It’s Aaron
In the interest of full disclosure, I’m no fan of Colin Cowherd or any of the talking heads that wax prosaic on the league and its players, telling me why their opinion matters more than anyone else’s, even though none of these hot-take con artists have ever made a bet using their infinite knowledge of the game.
Okay, Boomer Esiason gets a pass as he’s the only real one after listening to him on a weekly radio show in Boston, but outside of him, the rest can go pound sand. Now all of that said, I am nothing if not objective, and when I hear a quote that resonates with me, I don’t discard it because I’m not a fan of the person saying it.
Come on down, Colin Cowherd, who had this to say when asked about his “exhaustion” with Aaron Rodgers after learning the results of the poll with Rodgers being the league’s most hated man according to the research.

“I’ve always had this thing with Aaron Rodgers, and fans are like, ‘Colin, it’s just you and an Aaron Rodgers thing.’ And officially today, it’s not,” Cowherd said.
No, it’s not Colin, and I will give you props for being his loudest critic while others would deflect and cover for the filthy rich future Hall-of-Famer. Yes, it pained me to write that, but facts are facts, and so too is the universal truth that Aaron’s a douche. Amen.
