Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs | Chris unger/getty images/afp
In the latest NFL news, Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes cares more about the win column and rings than how many commas are on his paycheck. "I've made enough money where I'll be set for the rest of my life,” Mahomes said in a recent press conference.

Since then, the two-time Super Bowl Champion has fallen on the list behind Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson. However, Mahomes isn’t phased by where he sits on the list.
"Me and my agent and the team always keep open communication," he explained. "We try to do whatever's the best for the team, but obviously I wanna do the best for myself as well. But at the same time, I've always said I worry about legacy and winning rings more than making money at this moment. But I know we keep communication, we see what's going on around the league, but at the same time, I'll never do anything that's going to hurt us from keeping the great players around me, so it's kind of teetering around that line."
In NFL rumors, no secrets are enclosed, if there is a player who deserves all of the money that the league has to offer, it’s Mahomes.
He enters his sixth season as KC’s starting QB and is fresh off winning his second Lombardi trophy, which also included his second MVP award. It’s worth noting that Mahomes won two rings in five years while many quarterbacks never accomplish the feat of winning one.
At the ripe age of 27 years old, Mahomes has a long career ahead of him and more Super Bowls to win. But he completely understands that he can’t do that without the best of the best surrounding him.
“Everybody wants to get paid a lot of money," he said. "They think they're the best at their craft, they want to get paid like that. But at the same time, if you look at the greats in the league, they find that right spot where they're getting paid a lot of money, but at the same time, keeping a lot of great players around me."
As one of, if not the best quarterbacks in the league, Mahomes is constantly making NFL breaking news headlines as the media attempts to dig deep into his personal life. In fact he ended up being the centerfold after his younger brother, Jackson, was recently accused of forcibly kissing a woman in February. Jackson was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery.
In the most polite way, Patrick immediately shut down the media when asked about Jackson’s charges.
"Honestly, it's kind of a personal thing that I'm just kind of going to keep to myself," he said. "I mean, at the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family at the same time. So I just kinda keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I'm in the building."
While Patrick wasn’t vocal on his brother’s matter, his wife, Brittany didn’t hold back. “How do you feel about the comments about your BIL?” Mrs. Matthews was asked on Instagram.
“They are ignorant,” she wrote in her response. “He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way and until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one ever will) you have no right to say sh-t about him 🙂.
“So it’s best to just shut up.” Jackson, himself, has yet to address the allegations publicly. But you can bet that Patrick is more focused on football than his dumb-ss brother.
