Passion on Display

Why do bad things always seem to happen to good people? 🙂

There were four MLB games on Wednesday night, but only one attracted Chiefs quarterback extraordinaire, Patrick Mahomes, to the stadium where his Kansas City Royals battled the New York Yankees. But after a Royals game-tying hit, Mahomes was shown wildly celebrating at the expense of former teammate Gehrig Dieter. Some say Mahomes was over the top, but was he doing anything more than any other Royals fan would do?

A Royal Pain in the Ass

Patrick Mahomes and his entourage have been accused of being obnoxious and creating NFL rumors, whether it’s at KC Chiefs games with his wife Brittany, brother Jackson, and Kelce’s famous popstar girlfriend, Taylor Swift, celebrating wildly far atop Arrowhead Stadium in their private suite, or just walking around being themselves.

But now Mahomes has taken his show on the road, and his insufferable antics were on display for the world to see at Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals when a game-tying triple in the bottom of the fifth inning by second baseman Michael Massey sent Mahomes into a frenzy.

Unfortunately for his Yankee-loving buddy, Gehrig Dieter, named after the famed Yankee legend Lou Gehrig and a former wideout and teammate of the future Hall of Famer, Mahomes’ jubilation turned into an in-your-face screaming barrage, which saw him getting within an inch of his face.

Dieter tried his best to ignore the tirade but eventually put down his drink and jokingly (we think) knuckled up, which immediately caused Mahomes to do an about-face and walk away.

Okay, we’ve all trash-talked our friends, but none of us have a 1% stake in the Kansas Royals. In addition, Patrick Mahomes’ net worth is nearly $100 million at age 29, and he has a 10-year, $450 million contract in his pocket with the Chiefs. Wouldn’t that alone make Mahomes take just a little pity on his buddy? I guess we know the answer to that question.

People Are Talking

It was bad enough to see Mahomes on the Jumbo Tron getting pumped up for the game, but watching him spitfire at his friend when the Royals tied their ALDS playoff game against the Yankees took it to a whole new level.

This poor bastard just wanted to watch his pinstriped heroes in anonymity, but Mahomes made sure his bud would be a public punching bag for everyone to see.

But the thing is, Gehrig Dieter is one of us. He’s not a superstar making NFL news at every turn like Mahomes. The man took the VIP treatment afforded to Mahomes’ crew but didn’t realize there was going to be a price to be paid in the form of a public verbal lashing. Let’s see what the folks said about it on social media.

“Mahomes acting like a punk after this one,” one fan wrote on X.

“Mahomes is annoying….very annoying,” another fan added.

“The Mahomes’ continue to be the most annoying people on earth,” another fan said.

“Mahomes is classless,” another fan added.

“Mahomes seems as annoying as his brother,” a fan said.

But as karma would have it, Bombers DH Giancarlo Stanton blasted a Kris Bubic meatball 418 yards over the left field wall in the top of the eighth that caused Mahomes to abruptly sit his ass down as New York won the game, 3-2, and now holds a 2-1 series lead.
