Forever Iconic 😎

MJ and Bird were playing horse for the bag of McDonald’s food.

The future round of Super Bowl commercials is sure to make NFL news, even if the game ends up being a snoozer (here’s hoping it’s not). We’re already hearing some rumblings about some of the top 2025 Super Bowl commercials.

Post Malone and Shane Gillis are doing a Bud Light commercial. Becks is doing another Stella ad. Doja Cat is with Taco Bell. So, we got some real firepower to look forward to.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the best Super Bowl commercials of all time (Jonathan’s version).

5. Reebok: Terry Tate the Office Linebacker

Your first question is, what is a Reebok? Well, long before the brand was being sold at Walmart, it was a big rival of Nike.

Top athletes like Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal were among the faces of the brand. While the brand still had relevance, this Terry Tate commercial was among the best things Reebok put out.

The basic premise is a fictitious company hired the “office linebacker” to enforce rules during the workday. Joe from accounting is getting blindsided and tackled for forgetting to put a cover sheet on his report.

This one ages pretty well and still seems quite funny.

As for the betting odds, I don’t think Reebok is making a comeback.

4. Budweiser: Wassup (2000)

I feel like there’s a chance this commercial aged poorly and is not funny to the young. I don’t care, and I’m still putting it on the list.

It’s hard to explain that this was the way two dudes greeted each other for like two years straight.

Wasssssuppppppp,” said any dude in the 2000s while playing Blink-182.

Look, we were all scarred a bit by that Y2K saga. You can Google it, but basically everyone thought the world was going to end because computers would not be able to process the new millennium.

So yeah, you have it so much better with Super Bowl LIX around the corner, even if TikTok never comes back.

3. Pepsi- Deion Sanders and Wile E. Coyote (1996)

Some of you casuals may think that Deion Sanders being in every commercial is a new idea. From Pepsi to Nike, Prime Time (this was before Coach Prime existed) was on seemingly all the ads during the NFL schedule.

This old-school commercial is fun to look at given Sanders is now known for being a coach more than a player (at least the young). From baseball to football, Sanders had quite an athletic career.

The Prime Time edition of Sanders was an eight-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro, and two-time Super Bowl champ which all resulted in the star being a Hall of Famer. During the commercial, you can see Sanders wearing his signature Nike sneakers which were just re-released.

2. Budweiser: Clydesdales Playing Football With Zebra (2003)

Honestly, Budweiser could have made all five commercials for these rankings. There are some iconic Bud commercials.

Don Draper or whoever is doing these commercials deserves a raise. Several of the best ones involve the brand’s signature Clydesdale horses.

This 2003 joint features a group of horses playing football and “zebras” referring. The commercial shows the zebras reviewing one of the plays. Two dudes are watching the football game between the horses.

This referee is a jackass,” one friend turns and says.

No, I believe that’s a zebra,” the other man responds.

Classic.

Two things are true about this life: NFL rumors go round and round. Budweiser makes iconic Super Bowl commercials.

1. McDonald’s – Jordan vs. Bird (1993)

It may be hard for some younger people to fathom, but the star power of Michael Jordan and Larry Bird made these McDonald’s commercials iconic. There were several different versions of these Golden Arches, but all of them had the same basic theme.

MJ and Bird were playing horse for the bag of McDonald’s food. This 1993 commercial is fun to watch as the length is a ridiculous 1:30, which even back then meant McDonald’s was dropping the bag for the Super Bowl commercial.

Not to mention whatever they paid Jordan and Bird. Now, I’m hungry for fries.

I guess those commercials paid off.
