During the NFL offseason meetings in March, San Francisco 49ers executives presented their bid to host Super Bowl LX and they seemed very confident that the Super Bowl would be returning back to Levi’s Stadium in 2026. The NFL rumors saying this was a done deal were true since the announcement making the location official was shared on May 22.
The 49ers executives requested and were granted a $120 million loan from the NFL stadium fund to make improvements to Levi’s Stadium. The idea behind the loan is to improve lighting and other features of the stadium to also help them acquire a bid to host a World Cup game in 2026. The improvements the 49ers are expected to make definitely helped them in securing Super Bowl LX.

Throwback to Super Bowl L
The last Big Game that was awarded to the city of San Francisco was Super Bowl L in 2016, which saw the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos face off.
Super Bowl L was a low-scoring tight affair between the Broncos and the Panthers. We all remember the Broncos took a 13 to 7 lead into halftime and they ended up winning the game 24 to 10 defeating Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.
