A Look Inside Rodgers’ Day-to-Day
Part of the trailer looks like a teaser for a season of Survivor…
The streaming services have been ramping up production on documentary series ever since the success of The Last Dance. But usually there is hype associated with these projects (Quarterback, Receiver, Starting Five, etc.) long before they are released alongside other Netflix movies and shows. That is not the case for Netflix’s new docuseries about Aaron Rodgers, fittingly called Enigma, which is already coming out on December 17th to the surprise of many.
A trailer was released for the 3-episode series, and it is a lot to take in as it details Rodgers’ recovery from a torn Achilles as well as highlighting his life off the field, including the way he has turned into such a polarizing figure in recent years. Oh yes, there will be ayahuasca scenes.

Three episodes might not be enough for proper coverage of a darkness retreat, but they better not let us down without mentioning that. Part of the trailer looks like a teaser for a season of Survivor, so I feel pretty confident that they’ll tap into the unorthodox things Rodgers has been doing away from the field.
If only it could include his reaction to one of the greatest tweets in history:
Mahomes out here about to win his 2nd ring on a bad ankle and my Quarterback in a cabin with no power somewhere smoking CRACK

I have been enjoying most of the sports docuseries that Netflix has produced lately, so I’m willing to give this one a chance. But given the narration from Rodgers and looks of the trailer, it’s going to be a pretty one-sided take on his career, and there will be strong “I did my own research, so you can’t challenge anything I’ve said” vibes that won’t be critical of him.
Fans on social media don’t seem too thrilled about it either:
Just retire and go dance in the rainforest bro

J-E-T-S: Just End This Season
It’s not like Rodgers hasn’t been in the NFL news frequently this season. The 3-9 start for his New York Jets has been nothing short of disastrous, leading to the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, general manager Joe Douglas, a failed free-agent signing of Mike Williams, and a trade for Davante Adams that hasn’t done much of anything to help the team win.
In fact, the terrible season for the Jets is probably why this project hasn’t been hyped for months. Things just never got off to a good start in either season for Rodgers, who probably thought this would be a great comeback story to document. No one, not even the most ardent haters of Rodgers, would have predicted this team would be 3-9 in NFL games right now.

Instead of a success story to lift up the lowly Jets, we’re left with an inside look at the worst season of the 41-year-old quarterback’s career as he likely moves on to another franchise in 2025, if he doesn’t just retire period.
It’s not like Aaron Rodgers’ stats are atrocious this year, especially in the context of someone his age a year after tearing his Achilles. But he’s been average at best, and hasn’t produced many memorable moments outside of the Houston win, and that’s not what the Jets signed up for when they traded for a 4-time MVP.
I’ll watch it, but like many people, I’ve been over Rodgers’ relevancy for a few years now.
