Someone Thinks Very Highly of Himself…
I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ. – Darrell Doucette
Looks like there are some flag footballers who want to have their Noah Lyles moment. With flag football’s debut in the 2028 Olympics, many NFL players have been talking about joining up and trying to win a gold medal.

That’s something that has irked some athletes who play flag football professionally. Darrell ‘Housh’ Doucette, who is the quarterback of the United States National Flag Football team, is not a fan of the idea of having NFL players participating in the flag football Olympics.
“I think it’s disrespectful that they just automatically assume that they’re able to just join the Olympic team because of the person that they are – they didn’t help grow this game to get to the Olympics,” Doucette told The Guardian. “Give the guys who helped this game get to where it’s at their respect.”
That’s a perfectly reasonable take and I’d probably say the same thing if I was in his position. However, he had to go and say something really stupid to undermine his point.
“At the end of the day, I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game,” Doucette said.

Dude, you’re 5-foot-7 and playing a sport nobody watches. Mahomes is one of the greatest athletes on the planet. The Patrick Mahomes stats will probably be the best in NFL history when he retires. It’s pretty safe to say that he’d probably be able to pick up flag football pretty quickly.
Should NFL Players Play in the Olympics?
Mahomes reacted to Doucette’s comments with a classic 50 Cent GIF so he doesn’t seem to be taking it too seriously.

While Doucette was foolish to go after Mahomes, I do think he’s right about the Olympics being reserved for actual flag football players. First of all, the Olympics happen in the summer when teams are in the middle of training camp.
You think the Chiefs are going to be OK with their $500-million quarterback missing practice so that he can play flag football of all things? I highly doubt that. It would certainly be fun to see the NFL news of actual players being in the Olympics but it just doesn’t seem possible unless it’s recently retired players.
