Alex Morgan’s Biggest W
Achieving equal pay on the international stage and creating that sort of domino effect… – Alex Morgan
Ah, Kylie Kelce’s podcast just keeps getting better. From her signature sass to her genuinely thoughtful takes—and, of course, her stellar lineup of guests—she’s really outdone herself with the latest episode.
Not only did we get a list of things Kylie thinks you should never say to a pregnant woman (take notes, people), but we also got retired soccer star Alex Morgan dropping a bombshell about what she considers her biggest achievement. And guess what? It’s not winning the World Cup or the Olympics. It’s achieving equal pay for women in soccer.
Yes, Alex Morgan has dominated the sport in every way. Twice named U.S. Soccer’s Female Athlete of the Year, a four-time Concacaf Player of the Year, a five-time FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11 selection, and a three-time finalist for FIFA World Player of the Year—the list of accolades goes on. But what sets her apart isn’t just her talent on the field; it’s her fierce advocacy off of it.

A True Champion
In Thursday’s episode of Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, the former USWNT star opened up about the grueling fight to secure equal pay for women’s soccer players. And she’s all over soccer news for making it clear just how much that victory means to her.
“If someone asks my greatest achievement, I don’t know if it’s my biggest goal I’ve ever scored or the World Cup,” Morgan said. “It’s achieving equal pay on the international stage and creating that sort of domino effect—or as we like to say, ‘butterfly effect’—that helped other women in other countries and in the U.S. with their leagues and their teams fight for equality in their sport and outside of sport, too. It was many years of fighting with our employer.”
She went on to discuss the arduous legal battle that finally secured USWNT players equal pay in 2022. “And that was a moment when you’re like, ‘Oh, this has changed forever.’”
Women’s Soccer Changed Forever
Morgan and Kylie also touched on what this means for the future of women’s soccer as a whole, with Morgan recalling the days when she and her teammates had to fly coach, crammed into middle seats at the back of the plane—just one of many stressors today’s players won’t have to endure.
“Us older, more experienced players who spearheaded this lawsuit realized that we’re not necessarily going to be the beneficiaries of it,” she explained. “It’s more so the 18- or 21-year-olds just coming in. They’re going to be the ones who hopefully don’t even know the difference between the women’s team and the men’s team.”

At the end of the day, it’s clear that Alex Morgan wants to be remembered for shaping the future of women’s soccer—not just for her own athletic accolades. The Alex Morgan soccer legacy isn’t just about winning soccer games; it’s about the lasting impact she’s had in securing a better future for the players who come after her. And to me? That’s the mark of a true leader.
So, yes. This week’s episode was definitely worth the watch! We love seeing two powerful women discussing sports. Now say it with me: Everyone is watching women’s sports!
