Spain Continues to Shine 🤩
The 2024 Ballon d’Or result is a win for football.
Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d’Or award. He won’t be complaining about the packed soccer and Premier League schedule this week.
Some say, “It’s about time,” others claim robbery. Either way, there’s no denying what he’s achieved recently, including being awarded as the best player at Euro 2024, which his nation, Spain, went on to win, and not forgetting how he was instrumental in Manchester City winning the Premier League.
Rodri’s win marks the first Spanish player to win the award since 1960 and the first English Premier League player to win the prestigious trophy since 2008.

Controversy in soccer rumors has ignited, but let’s be honest: Each and every year provides the same outcome… It’s the most passionate fan base in the world, and people aren’t going to be happy with the decision, no matter who wins.
I guess it’s good to be a Spanish sports fan in 2024. After winning the Euros, they have a domineering UFC champion and superstar in Ilia Topuria, and now Rodri sits atop the footballing world.

Viva La España.
Real Madrid: Cry About It
Los Blancos boycotted the ceremony once they realized Vinicius Jr. didn’t win—talk about entitled pricks. They didn’t travel to Paris despite winning a slew of other awards, including head coach Carlo Ancelotti, who won manager of the year.
Four Real Madrid players landed in the top six of Ballon d’Or voting, and Vinicius Jr. was odds-on-favorite at sportsbooks to win it all, but Man City’s Rodri was triumphant on the night… Cry about it.
Why didn’t Vinicius win? Too arrogant, perhaps? He’s a controversial figure in soccer news, and yes, class and fair play are scoring criteria for the Ballon d’Or. Some journalists have suggested the presence of Bellingham and Carvajal, fellow Los Blancos stars, cost Vinicius a few points because of how well the team performed as a unit.
But hey, this isn’t about Real Madrid and their throwing of the dummy out of the pram; it’s about Rodri. Suck it up.

Controversy and Expectations
Let’s cut the crap here; if the vote truly did boil down to class and fair play, Rodri triumphs the entire Los Blancos squad, hands down. Even in success during his speech, the guy displayed true sportsmanship by highlighting his relationship with Carvajal.

Yes, the Ballon d’Or does factor in talent, but it’s more than just Rodri’s stats; this victory is proof.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or result is a win for football. Apparently, the best players in the world are only those who score goals. Please take me back to the time when Fabio Cannavaro lifted the award!

Although strikers receive most of the limelight, Rodri’s winning shows that we shouldn’t assume the world’s best striker will always receive the prize and that other positions should be considered too.
While I understand the frustrations of Vini supporters, some people act like they gave it to Harry Kane or something. Get a grip!
