Spain Is the King of Europe 🏆
We hope this can keep going, and we can go for the World Cup in 2026… -Nico Williams
European football has a new king; the Spanish squad of 2024 lifted a record fourth Euro 2024 trophy last night after outclassing England for 90 minutes to collect a 2-1 win.

La Roja, spearheaded by the mastermind Luis de la Fuente, topped soccer news for the entirety of this year’s European Championships, and rightfully so, as they were a class above every other nation from start to finish.
It was a poetic and justified finish to the competition for Spain, but England’s déjà vu of facing another painful near miss in a Euro final adds more heartache to the team’s continued trophyless drought.

Spain Will Only Get Better…
“Here we are, champions of Europe,” commented Nico Williams, the Bilbao winger who netted the opener versus England just two minutes into the second half, which later would be canceled out by Cole Palmer’s 73rd-minute equalizer. “We are thrilled and hope this can keep going, and we can go for the World Cup in 2026,” he added.
Mikel Oyarzabal was the unsuspecting game-winning goal scorer as the substitute striker replaced captain Alvaro Morata and slid through to poke the ball past Jordon Pickford in the 86th minute.

No team in Euro history has won six of their seven fixtures inside 90 minutes, that was, until Spain sent the Three Lions back to England with a 2-1 loss.
Winning all seven games was an unprecedented outcome, but to clean up the opposition without the need for extra time and penalties in six of those seven meetings saw La Roja stamp their mark on international soccer, and more imperatively, they looked prime to be an even bigger force in the near future.
A youthful team filled with young superstars in their early twenties and even a teenager in Lamine Yamal just walked through Italy, Spain, Germany, France, and England to win the Euros, so we can only dream of the possibilities that are to come once this unit matures.

In comparison with the Copa America 2024, no team has looked as fluid and impressive as Spain this summer, so it wouldn’t be surprising to watch them complete a Euros-World Cup double when the historic World Cup arrives in America in two years.
Spain won all seven games at the European Championship and broke the record for goals scored (15). They deserve all the flowers and then some.
Six Decades and Still Nothing to Show for It
The atmosphere in England and in the Three Lions camp is quite the opposite. They’ve now reached back-to-back Euros finals and lost, a record in itself. Unfortunately, the only soccer rumors surrounding this team are focused on the negatives, with multiple weak performances for this team throughout the tournament and to be honest, they were lucky to reach the final in the first place.
My nation of England is always mentioned alongside France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Portugal, and the world’s top-ranked teams. Still, we’re the only ones sitting here with six decades of misery and no silverware to back up our position in the sport since 1966.
Argentina join Spain as the only nation ever to win consecutive continental titles either side of becoming world champions 🏆🔂

The birthplace of football, yes. But footballs coming home? Stop it; let’s kill this motto as English fans; it’s embarrassing, and we’re a joke to the rest of the world.
