America Is Headed for a Summer of Soccer (x3)

This was a mini tune-up for three straight summers of international soccer tournaments. Atlanta and cities all over the United States will host Copa America beginning on June 20. Next summer, the top clubs will compete in the FIFA Club World Cup with teams like Chelsea, Man City, and Real Madrid headlining the event.

All this leads into the grand crescendo of the 2026 World Cup.

For decades, soccer has been dubbed America’s “sport of the future.” Now, the country is living up to this label by hosting marquee international football tournaments for three straight summers which is sure to make plenty of soccer news.

USWNT Takes on Canada in SheBelieves Cup Final

As for the soccer, it was not the cleanest match for the USWNT, but the ladies were able to escape with a 2-1 win over Japan. Up next, the United States squares off with Canada in the final of this mini-tournament.

What’s the point of the SheBelieves Cup? The four teams get a tune-up for the Olympics by getting an extended look at players. It is especially important for the USWNT as the squad transitions to new manager Emma Hayes after months of soccer rumors about the new boss.

As evidenced by the massive crowd, interest in the USWNT is still strong despite the disappointing showing in the 2023 World Cup. It will be interesting to see if Hayes leans on veterans like Alex Morgan or prefers to go in a completely new direction.

The Alex Morgan soccer stats include 123 career goals, a number that could increase this summer during the 2024 Olympics.

Get ready for more packed stadiums in the coming months as football venues transition to fútbol pitches.
