Rest > The Hustle ✨🏀
Rest well, queen…
Listen, being on top takes work—and even more importantly, rest. Nobody knows that better than A’ja Wilson, MVP, two-time champion, and all-around WNBA icon. This offseason, Wilson is choosing rest over the Unrivaled Basketball League, and honestly? We love a queen who knows how to take care of herself.
A Historic Offer Declined
Unrivaled released its rosters yesterday, featuring some of the biggest names in WNBA news: Napheesa Collier (co-founder), Breanna Stewart (co-founder), and Angel Reese among them. But noticeably absent? Wilson and Caitlin Clark. The league reportedly dangled a lot of cash in front of both stars, with Wilson’s offer rumored to top Clark’s $1 million plus equity deal. Yet Wilson, ever the need-down-time queen, turned it all down.

Why? Because she values her offseason—and honestly, I can’t blame her. A source close to Wilson put it simply: “A’ja likes to rest her body; she doesn’t want to play year-round.” Makes sense when you consider A’ja Wilson stats from this season: she played 38 out of 40 games, logged career-high minutes, and shattered records for points and rebounds. She deserves a break, and she knows it.
The Unrivaled League’s Missed Opportunity
Let’s be real—A’ja’s presence would’ve been a huge boost for Unrivaled Basketball. The 3-on-3 league is an exciting offseason addition, and its rosters are stacked with stars like Skylar Diggins-Smith and Jackie Young. But without Wilson or Clark, it’s missing some serious marquee value. Still, the league left two wild card slots open—one for each of them, just in case they change their minds. Spoiler alert: they probably won’t.

What’s Next for A’ja?
Instead of grinding through another season, Wilson is focusing on rest and personal growth. Maybe that means working on her game (we know she comes back better every year), or maybe it means more time with Bam Adebayo. Either way, I’m here for it. While I’d love to see her and Caitlin Clark running the court together, I’ll settle for watching A’ja unwind and dominate when the next WNBA season tips off.

In the meantime, I’ll let the NBA and Angel Reese hold me over. A’ja Wilson’s earned her time off, and I’m rooting for her to make the most of it—whether that’s training for greatness or just binging her favorite shows on the couch. Rest well, queen.
