A’ja Wilson’s Fashion Statement 🤍
Right now, where I am, I don’t feel like I deserve to put on clothes… A’ja Wilson
In case anyone forgot, Las Vegas Aces center A’ja Wilson is still the best player in the WNBA season 2024. When the WNBA awards are voted on, she’ll likely collect her third MVP award. Her team is still in line for a three-peat too.

With more attention than ever being paid to it this season, the WNBA news hasn’t always been about basketball. It’s rabid fans beefing over Rookie of the Year, retired players holding petty grudges, or it’s questionable social media posts that look like they came from the mind of WWE’s Vince MacMahon in his Bra & Panties Match days.
But A’ja Wilson is a baller, and even the legend himself, LeBron James, had to recognize her talent after she dropped 41 points and 17 rebounds in a win over Phoenix on Sunday.

Wilson is getting into playoff mode with a few weeks left in the regular season. She knows the grind ahead, and she’s just here to play winning basketball.
Wilson’s Simple Style Change Sparking a Turnaround?
Let’s not get it twisted. Wilson is as guilty as anyone at showing up to games in stylish outfits. She knows how to look good.

However, certain other players have taken to treating the pre-game arrival like a red-carpet event this year, and it’s distracting from the task at hand of winning WNBA games.
Wilson seems to feel the same way because she recently in late August started showing up to games wearing plain white tees and usually some sweatpants or shorts instead of trying to be extra stylish for this new WNBA era.

Fashion or Focus? A’ja Wilson’s Choice
To alleviate any WNBA rumors, Wilson spilled the beans to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the Aces’ struggles are why Wilson is dressing down right now:
“I have to want to put on clothes. Right now, where I am, I don’t feel like I deserve to put on clothes… Right now, my main focus is just getting wins. So if we start getting a couple of wins under our belt, I might pop out and show a little something. Right now, I am digging in the bottom of my T-shirt drawer, and I’m putting on a shirt and I’m getting out.”
Las Vegas Aces are 3-2 since she started the plain tees, and 3-1 over the last four games where A’ja Wilson’s stats are incredible with averages of 32.3 points and 14.3 rebounds on 54.4% shooting. She had a season-high 42 points in a close loss to Dallas last week and 41 points in Sunday’s win.
She’s simply a beast:
- Thanks to these games, Wilson just tied the WNBA career record with four 40-point games, tied with Diana Taurasi and Breanna Stewart.
- Wilson’s six career games with at least 35 points and 12 rebounds are four more than any other player in WNBA history.
- Wilson’s 27.5 points per game this season would shatter the record set by Taurasi (25.3) in 2006.
- Wilson’s 2024 Player Efficiency Rating (PER) of 36.47 would also be a single-season WNBA record, surpassing Lauren Jackson in 2007 (35.04).
Caitlin Clark is the (very near) future of the WNBA, but right now, A’ja Wilson is still the best no matter what she wears to the game.
