CC Is So Back
That’s definitely the best win of [Caitlin Clark’s] professional career so far.
Even though it was Father’s Day on Sunday, Caitlin Clark was the sports world’s main character for her return to WNBA games. As the kids her age (23) like to say, mother was mothering all weekend.
For sports fans under 40, we’ve been fortunate to see some highly-touted athletes not only live up to the hype, but they exceeded it. I’m talking about Peyton Manning, LeBron James, Lionel Messi, and Sidney Crosby.
We’re witnessing something special again with Clark.
Friday Night: Pacers Lose Heartbreaker in Front of Caitlin
Clark’s wild weekend began Friday night as she attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The Indiana Pacers were 8-0 in the playoffs with her in attendance, and fans couldn’t help but laugh at the hug Reggie Miller gave her that turned into a double hug with Sophie Cunningham of the Indiana Fever.

We know Reggie would have gone for a triple if Lexie Hull were right there too. But the Pacers dropped Game 4 in heartbreaking fashion when it looked like they’d take a 3-1 lead over the favored Thunder.

Clark already made NBA news that she won’t be able to attend Game 6, so the Pacers better get it done at home Thursday night.
Saturday Afternoon: Clark’s Epic WNBA Return
Hands down, Friday night was the worst loss in Indiana Pacers history. The fans needed some cheering up, and maybe Clark was personally pissed at watching that collapse. After missing the last few weeks with injury, she finally returned to action for the Fever against the New York Liberty, the defending champs with a 9-0 record this year.
It was the Liberty that Clark lost to in her last game after she had 10 turnovers in a 90-88 loss. Showing no rust, Clark went off for 25 points in the first half, including this sequence of three straight logo 3s that will live in highlight history:

She finished the game with 32 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds, and the Fever won 102-88, ending New York’s unbeaten streak. Caitlin Clark’s stats have been good in some other games, so I don’t know if it’s the best game she’s ever had. But doing that in your first game back against the unbeaten champs who had the No. 1 defense? That’s definitely the best win of her professional career so far. It also greatly improved her WNBA odds for MVP.
Oh, and as if you needed proof of WNBA rumors that she’s the league’s biggest draw, Clark’s return made history as the league’s most-watched game with 20.9 million viewers (including LeBron).

Father’s Day Sunday: Clark the Social Media Star
Sports fans were very aware that neither the NBA nor the NHL decided to have a game on Father’s Day Sunday.
No Finals game on Fathers Day. Adam Silver will pay for his crimes

But Sunday was the final round of golf’s US Open, and J.J. Spaun (-1) won it with an all-time putt from 65 feet:

Everyone noted how difficult the Oakmont course was, and Clark went viral after tweeting she’d easily shoot a 130 (!) on it:
Is Oakmont even fun to play? 😂😂 I’d shoot 130 easily 😂

We’re at the point where someone just tweets a picture of Clark in glasses, and it gets 19 million views.

And yet, we’re just getting started. The best is yet to come for her.
