22 Forever ⚡🏀

Feeling incredibly overwhelmed by the love and support from everyone. – Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark’s jersey is officially in the rafters, and it feels right. The Iowa women’s basketball legend had her No. 22 retired on February 2 (because of course it had to be 2/2), and it was the perfect way to honor everything she’s done for the game.

Last night, Clark posted on Instagram about how much the day meant to her, saying, “Such a special day, surrounded by all my favorite people. Feeling incredibly overwhelmed by the love and support from everyone—thank you, Hawkeye Nation.” Honestly, I get it. If my jersey got retired, I’d probably be crying on the floor. Caitlin, on the other hand, took it all in stride with grace and gratitude like she always has.

Making History, Again

Caitlin Clark’s stats are straight-up ridiculous. She’s the all-time leading scorer in NCAA history (men’s or women’s) and led Iowa to back-to-back national championship appearances. No one’s ever done what she’s done, and it’s wild to think she’s just getting started.

Now, she’s in the WNBA running the show for the Indiana Fever. If you’ve been keeping up with WNBA news, you already know she’s been making waves in WNBA games nonstop since she started in the league. It’s only a matter of time before she takes over completely. The way things are going, the Fever might as well start planning a statue, and they better make it cute. I don’t need another Dwyane Wade situation here.

A Perfect Homecoming

Seeing Clark back in Iowa was amazing to watch. She was courtside, cheering, yelling at the refs, fully locked in as Iowa pulled off a huge upset over No. 4 USC. And after the game, it was her turn to get the love.

This wasn’t just about celebrating her past; it was about recognizing what she’s done for the game. She’s changed Iowa women’s basketball, she’s changed the WNBA, and she’s going to keep making history.

Her No. 22 is where it belongs: hanging high, forever. And like I said, this is just the beginning.
