Valkyries > Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have some stiff competition in the Bay Area basketball scene.
The Golden State Valkyries have yet to play any WNBA games yet but the hype surrounding them is huge. Caitlin Clark has led to a massive resurgence in popularity in women’s basketball and thanks to this, we’re getting an expansion of WNBA teams.
The Valkyries, which is a badass name for a WNBA team, has just revealed what their uniforms are going to look like and they’re pretty sweet.

The Golden State Warriors have some stiff competition in the Bay Area basketball scene. I could see a ton of these jerseys selling out, especially if the Valkyries land a superstar player. They’ll be sharing a court with GSW so they’ll likely help each other out but the Warriors are no longer the only big basketball product in the Bay Area.
What To Expect From the Valkyries?
Unlike other sports, the Valkyries won’t be getting the No. 1 pick for their first draft as an expansion team. They’ll be picking at No. 5. They’ll still have a chance to land a great player but it takes time for expansion teams to find their footing.
They’re set to start playing in the 2025 season but it’s hard to imagine they’ll be title contenders quite yet. Natalie Nakase is a very promising head coach and she’ll be leading the Valkyries. She spent the last three seasons as an assistant for the Las Vegas Aces where she won two championships.

She’s also coached at the NBA level for the Los Angeles Clippers. It could be a slow go for the Valkyries but it would be big for WNBA news if they got good fast.
