In a season of only 60 regular-season games, expect the unexpected. As a team that gets hot early could make a surprise run at a postseason appearance. When looking at World Series betting odds, there are a few teams that certainly stand out.
Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Odds (+350)
2019: 106-56, Won NL West
The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be one of the strongest teams in baseball this year, and not only are they co-favorites to win the World Series, but they are the hands-down favorite to win the NL championship (+140).
It is no surprise either, as they already had a potent offense that becomes even stronger with the addition of Mookie Betts. Last year, Betts hit .295/.391/.524 with 29 home runs, 80 runs batted in, 135 runs scored and 16 stolen bases with the Red Sox.
He was traded in the offseason to the Dodgers. Now he will fall in a dangerous lineup of Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy, Justin Turner, and others.
The Dodgers’ pitching is no slouch, either. Clayton Kershaw has long been one of the best in the game. Last year, he pitched to the tune of a 16-5 record with a 3.03 ERA. He also posted a1.04 WHIP and had 189 strikeouts in 178 1/3 innings pitched.
Possibly just as dangerous is righty Walker Buehler. Last year, Buehler was 14-4 with a 3.26 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and struck out 215 in 182 1/3 innings.
New York Yankees World Series Odds (+350)
2019: 103-59, Won AL East
The other co-favorite to win the World Series is the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers also sit as the favorites to win the American League Pennant (+150). They will be a tough opponent for anyone who crosses paths with them.
On the pitching side, their rotation got a massive boost with the offseason signing of Gerrit Cole. The former Astros hurler went 20-5 last season with a 2.50 ERA, 0.895 WHIP and struck out 326 in 212 1/3 innings pitched. The Yankees certainly hope he can continue his dominance in 2020.
On offense, the Yankees are led by outfielder Aaron Judge. Last year, in just 378 at-bats, Judge hit .272/.381/.540 with 27 home runs, 55 runs batted in and 75 runs scored.
Aside from Judge, the Yankees also have the likes of Gleyber Torres (38 home runs, 90 runs batted in), Gary Sanchez (34 home runs), and others.
Houston Astros World Series Odds (+550)
2019: 107-55, Won AL West, AL Pennant
They lost the World Series to the Washington Nationals last season. The wheels really came off for them, who are tied to one of the largest sign-stealing scandals in sports history.
While their 2017 World Series championship might be tainted they still boast a team that is very capable of winning it all in 2020. Their rotation is led by the two-headed monster of Cy Young winner Justin Verlander (21-6, 2.58 ERA) and Zack Greinke (18-5, 2.93 ERA). Despite their advanced ages, both continue to pitch like aces.
Offensively, there aren’t too many easy outs in the Houston lineup. The top is especially potent with the likes of George Springer (39 home runs, 96 runs batted in, 96 runs scored), Jose Altuve (.298 average, 31 home runs) and Alex Bregman (41 home runs, 112 runs batted in, 122 runs scored) leading the way.
