The Los Angeles Dodgers have become co-favorites in MLB futures odds to win the World Series in 2024 at BetUS after it was announced Saturday that Shohei Ohtani was signing a 10-year, $700 million contract with the NL West team.
Share Favoritism with Braves
According to MLB odds, the Dodgers are now World Series futures co-favorites with the Atlanta Braves at +650.
Before Ohtani’s announcement that he was leaving the Los Angeles Angels via free agency for the NL team, the Dodgers sat at +750.
Of course, one must remember in 2024 the slugging outfielder will likely only be a DH. He will not pitch because he had surgery on his pitching elbow in September.
Underwent Surgery in September
Ohtani tore the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow on Aug. 23. He continued as a batter through Sept. 3 until an oblique strain.
Other movement saw the Houston Astros’ odds upped from +800 to +10000.
The Toronto Blue Jays, who were in the running for Ohtani now are +1400.
Other teams believed to be finalists were the San Francisco Giants (+4000) and Chicago Cubs (+2800)
