The baseball season is approaching with Opening Day just over a month away on March 30.
All 30 teams are scheduled to play on Opening Day, making it the first time since 1968 that every team begins their season on the same day. Some teams will earn their first of many wins in the 162-game season while for others it could mark the start of a long season.
A few teams had big years in 2022 and are expected to regress in 2023. We examine five teams projected to see their win totals drop from a year ago.
Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports, we’ve got plenty of MLB picks for you to consider
1. Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks finished 2022 in fourth place in the National League West and out of the playoffs with a 74-88 record. Still, that was a 22-win improvement from the previous year. Arizona is expected to have a tough season again in 2023, with -105 odds to win under 74.5 wins.
2. Red Sox
Boston ended the 2022 season last in the American League East with a 78-84 record and isn’t supposed to hit that number this season. The Red Sox had a rocky offseason, losing two mainstays of their lineup to free agency in Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez. Boston is -110 to for under 77.5 wins in 2023.
3. Dodgers

Los Angeles was the winningest team in the MLB regular season in 2022, winning the NL West with a 111-51 record. That followed a 106-win campaign in 2021. However, after losing a number of players, including Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Tyler Anderson and Craig Kimbrel, the Dodgers aren’t projected to reach 100 wins in 2023. The odds are -105 for them to win under 95.5 games.
4. Mariners
Seattle made the playoffs for the first time since 2001 last season as a wild card entry with a 90-72 record. Though the Mariners may make the playoffs once again, it might not be with 90 wins. Last year, not one member of the starting rotation missed a start due to injury and a repeat is unlikely. Their odds to win less than 87.5 games is -110.
5. Blue Jays
Toronto didn’t win the AL East a season ago, but it clinched a wild-card spot in the playoffs with a 92-70 record. The Blue Jays made a number of offseason moves, but the biggest hindrance in matching last year’s win total is their division. Four of the five teams in the AL East had winning records in 2022. Toronto’s odds to win under 90.5 games is -105. To bet on these as well as all other MLB odds, head to BetUS.com.
