Steele vs. Eovaldi Pitching Duel Sparks Cubs-Rangers MLB Opening Day Betting Mayhem

On the mound, there will be no shortage of fire as Texas is set to send right handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi while the Cubs will counter with left handed ace Justin Steele who coming off a knee injury scare is set to open the season for Chicago en Texas.

The only two questions left are, are you ready for some Cubs vs Rangers ball? And who’s starting the season out with a 1-0 record?

Don’t Be Shy, Show Steele A Little Betting Love

I get that being a Cubs fan is a thing of love and perseverance more than anything else, but even in that snoozefest of a 2023 season, can we take a moment and give Justin Steele some much deserved praise?

Steele was locked in from the jump, racking up win after win on his way to an impressive 16-5 record. But he was so much more than just a compiler of victories. The dude flat-out stomped his competition, posting an electric 3.06 ERA that ranked him 6th among qualified starters across the entire big leagues.

But if that’s still not enough for you, then let’s talk a couple more facts, like his bat-missing ability for example. Steele had hitters so twisted up, he struck out 176 of them over the course of the season. His 1.17 WHIP was equally nasty, clamping down on opposing lineups with ease.

For a pitcher who entered 2023 with some questions about his long-term potential, Steele absolutely silenced any remaining doubters. This was a genuine breakout campaign in every sense of the word for the young southpaw.

Whether he was carving up lineups with that wicked three-quarter delivery or pounding the strike zone relentlessly, Steele looked like a bona fide ace for long stretches. He may not blow hitters away with premium speed, but his elite command of the plate and nasty stuff can make any Cubs fan as happy as ever anywhere.

Looking For A Prized Pick? Take Eovaldi Against Cubs!

Eovaldi was an absolute workhorse in 2023! The former Red Sox pitcher took the mound 25 times for the Texas Rangers and straight up dealt, racking up 12 wins against just 5 losses with a crispy 3.63 ERA.

But those surface stats don’t even tell half the story. Eovaldi was downright nasty, missing bats left and right to the tune of 132 K’s on the season. His 1.14 WHIP was equally filthy, shutting down opposing lineups with ease more often than not.

And don’t even get me started on Eovaldi’s playoff dominance! The man morphed into an absolute superhero come October, going a perfect 5-0 with a 2.95 ERA and 41 more Ks sprinkled on top. His crowning achievement? Tossing 6 innings of scoreless ball to snag a Game 1 World Series victory on the biggest stage.

Eovaldi did have to sit for a stretch after suffering a forearm strain in late July. But when he finally returned in September, he quickly found his groove and started mowing guys down again like a machine.

The end result was an absolute stellar campaign – a 3.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, over 140 innings logged, and most importantly, a World Series ring to show for it all! Not too shabby for a guy who has battled some durability issues in recent years.

Whether he was dazzling in the regular season or straight up unhittable in the playoffs, one thing’s for sure Eovaldi was an absolute stud in 2023, cementing himself as a true ace and will be looking to continue riding on that pitching superstar cloud in 2024.

So, will the Rangers pick up right where they left off and make an early statement as the team to chase after this season? Or does the Cubs’ young gunslinger have something special cooked up to spoil the party? However it all shakes out, you can bet your bottom dollar that this Opening Day MLB showdown is gonna be must-see TV.
