Unveiling the Smallest MLB Stadium to Hit a Home Run

One thing that separates Major League Baseball from other professional sports is that each home ballpark or stadium has its own dimensions. Typically, it is about 400 feet to center field. However, the distance between the left field and right field can be much shorter. The amount of foul territory is also unique to each park.

The 2025 season has a wrinkle, as Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, had its roof seriously damaged by a hurricane in 2024. Tampa Bay will play its home games at George Steinbrenner Field, the spring training home of the New York Yankees. Also, the Athletics left Oakland and are playing at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento for the first time.

Those who bet on MLB should consider the MLB park dimensions.

Let’s look at the smallest MLB stadiums to hit a home run.

MLB Parks With Hitter-Friendly Dimensions

Yankee Stadium’s Short Porch

Left-handed pull hitters love Yankee Stadium thanks to the short porch in right field, just 314 feet away from home plate. That is enough to make the list of the smallest MLB stadium outfield dimensions.

That can lead to balls that might not even reach the warning track in other parks, resulting in home runs.

Right-handed hitters can do the other way and come away with home runs over the right-field wall. That can impact the MLB picks and parlays.

Fenway Park’s Green Monster

Few Major League Baseball parks are as famous as Fenway Park. Much of that is due to the Green Monster in left field, which makes it one of the top baseball parks in America.

The wall has been part of Fenway Park since 1912. The foul pole in left field is just 310 feet away in what is the shortest left field in MLB. The Green Monster is nearly 40 feet tall, so hitting home runs isn’t always the final result. Batters have a chance at a double if they hit the ball high up on the wall.

The Red Sox have had left fielders who have learned how to play balls off the Green Monster and hold batters to loud singles.

Oracle Park

Oracle Park, the home to the San Francisco Giants, has the right-field wall just 309 feet from home plate. As with Yankee Stadium, that can lead to some cheap home runs in the shortest right field in MLB.

It should be noted that during the 2024 season, the San Francisco Giants hit more home runs on the road than at home. Oracle Park is among the hardest parks to hit home runs despite its supposed hitter-friendly dimensions.

Minute Maid Park

In recent years, some big-time hitters have worn Houston Astros uniforms. The dimensions at Minute Maid Park might have contributed to those numbers.

The left-field wall is only 315 feet away from where batters dig in, so that can help with the number of home runs being hit during the home games for the Astros.

Yordan Alvarez hit 20 home runs at Minute Maid Park during the 2022 season and has hit over 10 home runs at home in 2023 and 2024. It helps hitting in one of the smallest MLB fields.

Citizens Bank Park

The Philadelphia Phillies are known to load up the batting order with power hitters, and Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Alec Bohm, and JT Realmuto are among the big hitters for the 2025 Phillies.

They must love hitting at Citizens Bank Park with the right-field wall only 330 feet away as the home of the Phillies make the list of the smallest ballparks in MLB.

Schwarber hit 20 home runs at the park during the 2024 regular season, one more than Harper. Three other players for the Phillies had at least 11 home runs at home in 2024.
