Walker Buehler and Red Sox Agree to 1-Year, $21M Deal
Former LA Dodgers Ace Walker Buehler Is Heading to Boston After Accepting a 1-Year $21M Deal With Red Sox
Buehler Is Walking to a Cool 1-Year, $21M Deal With Boston
Remember the last time the Boston Red Sox were betting odds favorites to make a title run? Or a deep playoff run? Or just make it to the postseason? Yeah, I know, it’s been a while. But worry not Sox fans; some much-needed pitching help is coming to Fenway.
As reported by MLB news this morning, Boston, a team who looked ready to call Pedro Martinez to see if he would be up to tossing a few innings next season, has made a move that shows they are ready for a rotation rebuild, signing former LA Dodgers ace Walker Buehler to a one year $21M deal.

MLB rumors guru and ESPN baseball reporter Jeff Passan first broke the news about the Sox apparently waking up and deciding to take the AL East by storm, bringing in Buehler to help be the veteran to help their reeling starting rotation needs.

So, what does this mean for Buehler and the Sox?
First Bellinger, Now Buehler!
It’s becoming quite the thing for Dodgers players to try and look for new homes out East. First, there was Cody Bellinger, the former NL MVP and 2020 World Series champion who, after leaving LA for the Cubs, made another move, joining the New York Yankees this offseason via trade.
Now, it’s Buehler’s turn.
Funnily enough, Buehler joining the Red Sox, AKA the Yankees’ most hated rivals, makes perfect sense in the hopes of MLB’s biggest rivalry getting a new bolt of excitement.
Ultimately, if somebody knows how to manhandle New York and make the Bronx its stomping grounds, it’s Buehler. Oh, and also the Mets after taking Juan Soto, but that’s another story.

One thing is for sure: Buehler leaving LA is not like any other player cleaning up his locker and heading out. It may just be me, but we’re talking Dodgers royalty here. Walker Buehler’s stats are a perfect example of what Dodgers love is all about.
There are some players that get a social media “thank you” post by their team.
Walker Buehler deserves a tribute video going back to his rookie season and the way he came up clutch time and time again over the course of his career with the Dodgers.

Hopefully, LA will do Walker right, and he can start his career in Boston, knowing his legacy in LA will always be remembered.
Can Buehler Become Key to a Red Sox Rebuild?
Not to put any pressure on Buehler here. But here’s to hoping he knows what he’s about to get into. There’s a clear reason Boston’s rotation is often left riding the bench by MLB baseball parlay picks experts.
To put it in simple terms any baseball expert or casual fan can understand: it’s because it sucks! (Read it with a Boston accent, and it’ll hit deeper)

Boston desperately needs a top-quality starter to take over a struggling rotation. And while the team is already shooting a prayer that their new ace can help round out a three-way punch with Garrett Crochet and Patrick Sandoval once he returns to action around August, Buehler will have to put in a heavy dose of work to get something going at Fenway.
Even if Walker Buehler’s contract with the Sox is only for one year, in a city like Boston, where results are expected immediately, the former Dodger will need to hit the mound ready to eat up batters.

That’s a rotation I can get excited about.

As of today, if I were the Red Sox, I’d write one last letter to Santa asking for pitching depth once Crochet, Buehler, Sandoval, and the rest of the team’s rotation get going. What’s the harm in trying?
