2025 World Series Odds, Predictions: Can Anyone Beat the Dodgers?

Picking the World Series winner this early in the season is always a challenge. Baseball is a grind, injuries pile up and teams that look unstoppable in March can be afterthoughts by October. But, if you’re looking for the safest bet (and I hate saying this), it’s the Los Angeles Dodgers.

They are just too stacked to ignore, and +250 MLB odds aren’t even terrible considering their talent of the Dodgers. If everything goes right, this team should be the last one standing. The New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies are all in the mix, though each comes with major question marks.

Let’s break down my MLB predictions for the Fall Classic.

2025 World Series Odds

1. Los Angeles Dodgers (+250)

As much as I’d love to pick against the Dodgers, I can’t. Their lineup is an All-Star team that includes Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernández, Max Muncy and Will Smith.

Per MLB betting trends, the Dodgers led baseball in OPS last season (.781), and with Ohtani set to return to the mound, this team might somehow be even better than last year’s World Series-winning squad.

The pitching rotation is unfair. Roki Sasaki, the Japanese phenom, joins Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell and eventually Ohtani. The bullpen? Loaded. The front office? Unafraid to spend and make mid-season moves.

The only thing stopping the Dodgers is injuries or an untimely cold streak in October. But if you’re betting today, this is the safest World Series pick.

2. Atlanta Braves (+850)

The Braves have been a playoff machine, making the postseason seven straight years and winning it all in 2021. They’ve built a sustainable juggernaut, but there are early concerns. Ronald Acuña Jr. (knee) and Spencer Strider (elbow) are both injured to start the season. If they aren’t themselves by October, Atlanta’s ceiling takes a hit.

That said, this lineup is lethal. Acuña Jr. (if healthy), Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Marcell Ozuna and Ozzie Albies make up one of baseball’s deepest lineups. The pitching rotation could be elite if reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale stays healthy and Strider returns to form. Sale is +850 in MLB futures odds to win a second straight Cy Young.

The bullpen is solid. The front office is aggressive. This team is the biggest threat to the Dodgers, but it needs good health to have a real shot.

3. New York Yankees (+850)

This was my No. 2 pick before Gerrit Cole’s elbow exploded. It feels like a gut punch when the biggest offseason MLB news for the Yankees is losing their ace for the season. Despite this, their World Series odds didn’t take that much of a hit.

The offense is still dangerous with Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt, but losing Juan Soto to the Mets hurts. Their pitching rotation is solid with Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, Clarke Schmidt and Marcus Stroman, but without Cole, they lack a true ace.

The Yankees will always be in the conversation because they have the money to buy what they need, but unless they swing a major trade for another frontline starter, I don’t see them getting past the Dodgers or Braves in a seven-game series.

4. New York Mets (+1100)

The Mets bought themselves a contender this offseason, throwing $765 million at Juan Soto and re-signing Pete Alonso. That gives them a nasty lineup with Francisco Lindor, Brandon Nimmo and Brett Baty backing them up. But do they have the pitching?

Kodai Senga is a legit ace, but after him, it’s Sean Manaea, David Peterson, Frankie Montas and Clay Holmes (yes, the former Yankees closer, now a starter). That’s… concerning. This rotation needs another frontline arm to be a real World Series threat.

The good news? Steve Cohen will spend. The Mets can absolutely add an ace at the deadline. But for now, I see them as an NLCS contender, not a World Series winner. New York is +600 to win the NL in MLB pennant odds.

Philadelphia Phillies (+1100)

For some reason, people keep underrating the Phillies. They won more games than anyone outside of the Dodgers last year and have arguably the best top-to-bottom rotation in the NL.

Their lineup is still stacked with Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Kyle Schwarber, Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott. They added Jesús Luzardo to a rotation that already includes Zack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Ranger Suárez and Cristopher Sánchez. That’s better than what Atlanta or the Mets are rolling out.

Do they have enough firepower to get past the Dodgers? Maybe. Their bullpen needs work, and their outfield is weak, but if everything clicks, this is a dark-horse online betting pick worth betting on.

Final Pick: Dodgers (+250)

I hate picking the favorite, but this team is just too good. Their offense is stacked, their pitching staff is elite and they have the resources to fix any weakness that arises. If the Braves get healthy, they’re a serious challenger, and the Phillies might have the best rotation in the NL. But today? It’s Dodgers or bust.

WORLD SERIES PICK: Dodgers (+250)
