Astros Looking To Roll Over Angels, Again
MLB betting is always better on the weekends as all of the teams in the league are set to take the field. The Houston Astros play host to the Los Angeles Angels in one such game on Saturday.
The Los Angeles Angels enter with an overall record of 37-42, and they have been one of the most inconsistent teams in MLB. Los Angeles is 16-19 on the road.
Houston won the opener on Friday night to improve their record to 49-27. The Astros have jumped out to a big lead in the AL West and are now trying to get to the top of the entire AL.
The MLB lines for this AL West rivalry game have the Houston Astros as the moneyline betting favorites at -145.
Angels Not Giving Up Hope
It has been a strange season for the Los Angeles Angels, but acting manager Ray Montgomery still has some hope. After the 8-1 loss on Friday night, Montgomery said, “I don’t think anybody here has any other thoughts. We’re trying to stay within striking distance and keep our guys motivated and on track.”
Montgomery is filling in for Phil Nevin, who was suspended for his role in the brawl with the Mariners on Sunday.
If the Angels are going to turn their season around, then they need other players besides Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani to step up. Trout leads the team with 23 home runs, and Ohtani belted a solo shot on Friday and has also been the ace of the pitching staff.
Patrick Sandoval is set to make the start and he has pitched well. Sandoval is 3-2 with a 2.63 ERA, and the Angels need him to step up.
Astros Have Plenty of Power
The Houston Astros do nearly everything extremely well, especially when it comes to the offense. Houston has belted 106 home runs, and it also sports a terrific team on-base percentage of .317.
Yordan Alvarez leads the team with 23 home runs and 56 RBIs to go along with a healthy .316 batting average. Alvarez is currently dealing with some discomfort, but the Astros have plenty of other sluggers.
Jose Urquidy will be on the mound for the Astros, and he has gone 6-3 with a 4.36 ERA. The Astros have a terrific bullpen that can pick up the slack, and this entire pitching staff has a team ERA of just 2.93.
