Teams Resume Three-Game Set
The Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox continue a three-game series on Wednesday at Fenway Park. Los Angeles has enjoyed a better start to 2022, but MLB odds favor Boston to double up on Tuesday’s victory.
The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. ET at Boston’s Fenway Park.
Let’s check the latest MLB picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB odds for LA Angels vs Red Sox. We’ve plenty of MLB predictions.
Angels’ Quest for the West
The Los Angeles Angels are 15-10, good for first place in an American League West Division that has been dominated by the Houston Astros, last year’s AL World Series representative, in recent years.
They have dropped form slightly as of late, losing three of their last four contests, but have still impressed across the board, specifically on offense. It remains to be seen if they have the bullpen required to put together a postseason bid, but they are undoubtedly doing better than last season.
A major reason for the team’s turnaround is the return of superstar Mike Trout, who is hitting .319 with six home runs. Slugger Shohei Ohtani has mostly failed to recapture his glimmering form from last season and is hitting just .125 across three games in May. If these two studs can start performing at similar levels at the same time, the Angels instantly become strong threats to make a deep playoff run.
Reid Detmers (1-1, 5.19 ERA) will be on the bump for the Angels.
Red Sox Stock Plummets
The Boston Red Sox entered 2022 with incurred trust in their name following a season in which they shrugged off a disappointing start and reached the playoffs.
However, they have not looked anything like the resilient squad that could fight out of holes and are 10-14 overall and 4-4 at home. Tuesday’s 4-0 win could help propel them to greener pastures, but until they demonstrate any consistency, it will be hard to trust them.
Xander Bogaerts and Rafael Devers have carried the offense, with the former hitting .356 and the latter .297. However, the supporting cast has not held up its end. Boston could strengthen its roster at the trade deadline, as it did last season, but it would first need to be in a position to compete for October.
Garrett Whitlock (1-1, 0.54 ERA) will get the start for the Red Sox. He has not allowed an earned run in last five appearances.
Angels vs Red Sox Head-to-Head
Last year’s season series was split evenly as each team claimed three wins from a possible six.

Angels vs Red Sox Prediction
The Red Sox are always one of the most popular MLB picks, but their performances have not been up to par this year.
The Angels, conversely, have been playing well, even if they dropped the series opener, and are lining up to be a playoff contender in the AL. They have immense hitting power, especially when Ohtani is firing, and an OK pitching staff.
The fact that the oddsmakers have given the Angels positive odds on the moneyline is too good to ignore, but more fearful bettors should still opt for the Angels at +1½.
