Trout Nearing Return From Injury

Both Teams Struggling

The Los Angeles Angels have had a lot going on this season. They’ve changed managers, had trouble with consistency and are dealing with incessant rumors regarding the future status of Shohei Ohtani.

It doesn’t help that the Angeles haven’t done well lately. They had won five of six but are coming off a sweep at the hands of the Seattle Mariners.

They get to play an equally struggling opponent on Friday. The Detroit Tigers lost again on Wednesday, their 15th loss in their last 19 games. Which of these teams will be able to get back on track with a win on the MLB odds here?

Let’s check the latest MLB news, stats, injury reports, and  MLB odds for Angels vs Tigers. We’ve plenty of MLB picks & predictions.

Could Trout Return on Friday?

The Los Angeles Angels are giving Patrick Sandoval the ball here and he’s 3-8 and a 3.42 ERA. However, the majority of his struggles have come lately. He started the year off with a 3-1 record but has since gone 0-7.

The Angels have dropped 10 of his last 12 starts.

Injuries have obviously taken their toll on this team. Mike Trout has been out, Anthony Rendon is out (and has also been a disaster) and they’re simply not scoring much. They have 20 runs in their last six games.

The only good news is that Trout recently took live at-bats and there’s a chance he returns on Friday. Before you bet online, keep an eye on the news wires.

They’ll need his offense. The Angels have scored an average of 1.43 runs over the past 10 games in which Sandoval has pitched.

Tigers Turn To Manning

The Detroit Tigers are 19 games back in the division, which they’re in development mode. That’s why it makes it a perfect time to get Matt Manning some more work on the mound.

Manning is just 24 years old and hasn’t been out there much, but it set to start here. Manning has appeared in five games for Detroit, helping them win two of those matchups. His record is still at a flat 0-0 and his ERA is up to 3.24 currently.

The Tigers have won two of three, which is quite the “hot stretch” for them. Consider that they are still just 9-28 in their last 37 games, it really makes it tough to take the on the MLB odds.

Angels vs Tigers Head-to-Head

Angels vs Tigers Prediction

Neither of these teams have performed well coming into this game. The Angels just got swept and the Tigers were handed yet another loss to the Cleveland Guardians to snap their own two-game winning streak.

Los Angeles has more talent on the roster, but is just wildly inconsistent. Meanwhile, Detroit is rolling with a relatively unknown talent in Manning on the mound.

The potential is certainly there for the Angels to get things rolling with their bats to help, especially if Trout is back. That might be something worth going with for your MLB picks in this matchup.
