Angels Go for Second Straight over Visiting Astros
Los Angeles Tries To Move To .500 Against Houston
The Los Angeles Angels try to put together a two-game winning streak and earn a split of their season-opening four-game series with the visiting Houston Astros on Sunday. Los Angeles took Saturday’s contest. Houston had won the first two games of the series before being shut out. This series has been up and down for both teams, so let’s take a closer look at the series finale before you decide how you want to bet online on this contest.
Let’s check the latest MLB Picks, stats, injury reports, and MLB Odds for Astros vs Angels. We’ve plenty of MLB Predictions.

Astros Blanked after Offensive Explosion
The Houston Astros have been inconsistent offensively, scoring 13 runs in Friday’s win over the Los Angeles Angels but combining for just three runs in the other two games. That includes a 2-0 loss on Saturday that saw Houston manage just two hits.
That lack of offensive pop pinned the loss on Justin Verlander, who pitched well in his first start since the 2020 campaign, when he made only one start for the whole regular season. The 39-year-old went five innings on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven and walking three.
Trying to follow that up will be right-hander Jose Urquidy. The 26-year-old was 8-3 with a 3.62 ERA in 2021, striking out 90. Urquidy made two starts against the Angels last season, going 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA.
Third baseman Alex Bregman has started fast at the plate, going 4-for-9 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored. Bregman came in as a pinch-hitter in Saturday’s game, going 0-for-1 in the ninth inning.
Angels Excited To See Trout Swinging the Bat
While the 2021 season was a revelation for the Los Angeles Angels thanks to the AL MVP campaign of Shohei Ohtani, it also left the team and its fans wondering what might have been. Outfielder Mike Trout managed to play 36 games due to injuries, robbing the team of seeing the superstars playing together for a full campaign.
Trout is back now, though, as he showed in Saturday’s victory, hitting his first home run since May 2021 in the eighth inning. Trout is 2-for-10 with three strikeouts and a walk, but seeing him finally reach the seats again showed the potential of this team.
That potential extends to the mound, where Noah Syndergaard made his first start for Los Angeles – and only his third since the 2019 campaign – on Saturday night and was impressive. Syndergaard threw 5⅓ shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out one.
“It was fun to play behind (Syndergaard),” Trout said after Saturday’s win. “He was throwing strikes and trying to get back in the dugout as quick as he can. You saw it tonight. He was out there grinding.”
Left-hander Jose Suarez will get the ball for the series finale for Los Angeles. The 24-year-old went 8-8 with a 3.75 ERA in 14 starts and 23 overall appearances in 2021, striking out 85 and walking 36.
Astros vs Angels Head-to-Head
The Houston Astros took the season series from the division rival Los Angeles Angels 13-6 last season, including four straight wins on three different occasions. Houston won six of the 10 games played at Angel Stadium.
Los Angeles is looking for at least a split in a home series with Houston for the first time since the first two games they played against each other in 2021. The Astros have felt very at home on the West Coast, which is why the MLB lines are giving a slight edge to the visitors.

Astros vs Angels Prediction
The Houston Astros have too many solid hitters to be held down offensively for a second straight game. Urquidi should be able to keep the Los Angeles Angels hitters off-balance enough for Houston to pick up the series victory
When doing your MLB betting, take Houston to get the win on the road.
