Houston Extends Losing Streak to Three Games
Angels Hope to Keep Pushing Houston Down
The Los Angeles Angels got a big 6-4 win over the Houston Astros on Monday to regain some of their lost momentum.
The Angels were outscored 26-9 in their previous two games against the Texas Rangers, so a win at home against the World Series champs gives them a shot in the arm.
Meanwhile, the Astros are fourth in the AL West after losing five of their last six. Are they a team to continue to fade on the MLB odds? Let’s take a closer look.
Astros Can’t Put Together Complete Game
Houston held a late lead over the Angels on Monday thanks to David Hensley. Hensley hit his first home run of the year in the fifth inning to give the team a 4-3 edge. Before that homer, he was batting .129.
However, he got his team the lead when they needed it, but they weren’t able to hold on. Those who bet online saw the bullpen cough up two runs in the bottom of the eighth, costing them the game
Manager Dusty Baker said, “We need to pick up our game. Tonight we had a good offensive night but it seems like we can’t match the two things together.”
Framber Valdez will get the start, and he’s been reliable for MLB picks. Valdez is tied for the most quality starts in the league coming into this game, with six in his first seven outings. Less reliance on the bullpen is likely a good thing.
Angels Two Games Back of Top
The Angels have been a fantastic team for MLB live betting of late. They’ve been facing deficits early and finding ways back late. Over the last six games, the Angels have clawed back to win three games that they’ve trailed or tied after seven innings.
It does certainly help that they have one of the best players in baseball, Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani smashed a pair of RBI doubles to help his team come out on top on Monday.
On Tuesday, he’ll be on the mound. He’s been phenomenal as a starter so far, pitching 39.0 innings and giving up only 11 runs, striking out a whopping 59 batters.
If you’re looking at the MLB betting lines here, though, note that Ohtani has struggled of late. He has allowed nine earned runs in his last two starts, giving up four home runs.
He had allowed just two earned runs in his first five starts. So he might be someone to fade in the sportsbook, given his recent performances.
