Astros Looking To Rock Guardians
The MLB playoff odds are starting to heat up, and a pair of playoff contenders are meeting in Cleveland. The Guardians are playing host to the Houston Astros, and the road team has won each of the first two games.
The Houston Astros seem to be getting better as the year has gone on, and they have built up a massive lead in the AL West Division. Houston went out and improved at the Trade Deadline, and has a loaded roster.
Cleveland came into this series in second place in the AL Central Division, despite just barely being over the .500 mark. The Guardians have been better than expected in 2022, but they have work to do if they want to reach the postseason.
The MLB lines for this game have the Houston Astros as the moneyline betting favorites at -151 over the Cleveland Guardians.
Pitching Continues To Impress for Astros
The Houston Astros have done nearly everything correctly this season, but the pitching staff has taken over of late. Justin Verlander blanked the Guardians in the series opener, and they have a team ERA that is less than 3.00.
Luis Garcia is set to take the mound on Saturday night, and he has gone 8-7 with a 3.81 ERA this MLB season. If the Astros continue to pitch this well, then they will be nearly impossible to beat in the postseason.
As if the Astros weren’t loaded on offense already, Trey Mancini is now on the team and belted a pair of home runs in the win on Friday night. Houston is now over the 150 home run mark this season, and they have power up and down that lineup.
Guardians Can’t Find Offense
It’s been a strange season at the plate for the Cleveland Guardians, and they are looking for any help that they can find. Cleveland recently called up prospect Tyler Freeman, and manager Terry Francona said, “He has a little presence about him already.”
Jose Ramirez continues to lead the way for the Guardians as he leads the team in both home runs and RBIs. Despite having one of the best offensive players in baseball, Cleveland has hit less than 90 home runs.
Cal Quantrill will be on the mound, and he has been one of the better pitchers for this team. Quantrill is 7-5 with a 4.08 ERA on the year, and he is going to have to pitch well to give his team a chance.
Astros vs Guardians Head-to-Head
Looking at the scores and odds in a head-to-head matchup can help with making bets on baseball, especially when this is the third game of a series. Cleveland has actually been a better team in the overall head-to-head matchup, but the Astros have dominated of late.
Houston has already won the first two games of this series, and that’s four straight in 2022. The Guardians have won just two of the last 13 games against the Astros.

Astros vs Guardians Prediction
Even though these teams are both in the playoff hunt and could present a challenge when making MLB picks, the Houston Astros are clearly the better team. Houston picked up a blowout win on Friday night, but don’t expect this game to be such a blowout.
The pitching matchup in this game could keep things a bit closer, but the biggest difference is the offense of the Astros. At some point, Houston is going to break through, and they are going to win a third straight game in Cleveland.
